If what Gannon says is true doesn't that give the Packers leverage? Better check with the NY media to find out.
NYJs started out as the New York Titans, in part because their owner said of his cross-town rivals:
"Titans are bigger and stronger than Giants"
Franchise fell on hard times, not unlike The Mighty Green Bay Packers
Apparently, they had their own Hungry 5 :
"A five-man syndicate, headed by Sonny Werblin, saved the team from certain bankruptcy, purchasing the lowly Titans for $1 million in 1963"
The house that Aaron built ? Well, not really.
But he did "pay" for the remodeling work going on. Lambeau is getting 4 new scoreboards. 2 massive ones on either end and 2 smaller ones on the East/West sides of the stadium
The big boards are 220ft x 75 ft; combined they are about 1/2 acre of the new 4K 6mm HD pixels. State of the Art
More like the house that we built. Selling shares was to keep the Packers up to date with their facilities.
Wilde on Homer and Tony says he talked to a source that told him Gute is insisting on the Jets 1st next year without conditions.
Jason then speculates his best guess is the Packers want a 2nd this year and that unconditional 1st next year and the Jets want a 2nd this year and a 2nd next year that can upgrade.
Is Wilde inner circle?
Definetley not, he's said before he got the same no reply for weeks treatment from 12 as most other people.

That's interesting....Gute himself said "A first rounder is not holding up this trade."
Someone is Rong somewhere.

I think he used to be when Rodgers was on his show.
Rodgers inner circle is now McAfee and AJ Hawk

I would like a 1st rounder this year and not just a conditional 1st rounder next year.
I think we all would.
I will gladly pay you Tuesday for cheeseburger today.
Gilbertburger
I think this was a seminal moment in the Packers / Rodgers saga.
When Gute saw AR couldn't even chug a beer...he knew it was time to move on

Might as well use one of these
Hey Jets ! Tom Crabtree is ready to roll
Every Crabtree TD
See if you can find the Jets offense on this graph.
And then tell me they are negotiating from a position of strength.

He said it's not a necessity, but at the same time it's a premier player and he wants premier picks or players back. Skip to 4:20 for the question and his answer.

Tedy Bruschi put it best. The Jets are a perpetually desperate team. They are always making rash decisions and getting themselves in trouble.
The Packers leadership is never desperate. Every decision is measured carefully.
This is the Jets team we expect to dominate these proceedings? Hmmm!

Go get âem, Gute.
Skip to 8:40. Carton's a bullshiter so this is more then likely just a radio bit. Having some fun to stir up the callers for the next few days.

We all want a #1 pick but a #2 this year and a #2 next year that can become a #1 sounds fine with me as long as we don't have to give up a conditional draft pick in 2025.
If true, sounds like Gutekunst is hedging against Love. If he/they struggle mightily this year, that extra #1 might be important if they're near Maye/Williams because otherwise it should be a markedly lower pick than #13.
I know a couple of Jets fans but at this point F the Jets and the media fanboys who want something for nothing. ðĄ

When the only comparisons to be made are limited to Favre/Jets and then reaching back to Montana/Chefs, the idea of comparative precedent is flimsy at best. This notion that a 1st round would never go GB's way is a concocted talking point that everyone just started repeating. Maybe it doesn't end up happening, but removing it from the table in the media was a cheap concerted effort. I wouldn't mind at all if the Jets and their fans ended up the chumps in the end.
Here's a listing of all the players selected at # 42
https://www.drafthistory.com/index.php/player/42
Some interesting names, some forgettable players
Last time GB had # 42, was back in 1963.
Elgton Jenkins was picked # 44 ; getting a player that good in the trade would be spectacular

What an odd take. I guess Gutey is the first GM in NFL history to want more value in a trade? Love is going to make you look very bad. Love and Watson.
TT was hedging against AR when he drafted Brian Brohm. Bottom line is the Packers (and everyone else that's being honest) is unsure of what they really have in Love until he gets out there and performs as the starter.

Next yearâs first is LOWER value than this-yearâs first.
1. A pick the following year is generally considered to have a value of that pick one round lower than the current year.
2. It acquiring Rodgers, the first-round pick next year is likely to be far lower than #13.
Thereâs no anti-Love judgement on my part in any of this, As Michiganjoe also said, they donât know what they have until heâs the starter. They may think heâll be goid, but why not cover your ass when given the opportunity? If they donât and Love falters, theyâre all unemployed. If he succeeds, extra #1.

@WolfPack posted:Not sure why you pay for a veteran backup. Love isn't a rookie. He's been here 3 years. He played under one of the best to play the game. Not sure he needs any mentoring. What's a vet gonna do? Say "Throw the ball better" ?
Favre had Pederson for years well after he went through his growing pains. Now if they could convince Ryan to be that guy I'd go for it. If he wants more than a few million a year to hold a clipboard then I'd look elsewhere.
@Herschel posted:To be fair, Cutler did play eight seasons in Chicago and was probably their best QB in team history.
He's also only seven months older than Rodgers and has been retired five years. He could be going in to the all of Fame this year, except for being Jay Cutler.
Cutler should be in the Bears HOF. If it exists. I honestly don't know if they have their own HOF. They should for a team that old. And half of the members are probably MLB's.
But to be fair Cutler also belongs in the Packers HOF.

Pederson was only the back up because he was Favre's friend. If Favre had ever gone down for 5-6 games the season would have been lost.
I was in Lambeau for the last game of the season in 1997 versus Buffalo Bills. Favre played the first half and rested with numerous other starters up 21-0.
Doug Pederson came in and was unable to move the ball or score more than 3. We held on to win with a late pick 6 from Darren Sharper, 31-21. I still like Pederson but it was nerve racking!
Billâs special teams ace, Steve Tasker got ejected in 1st quarter on last game of his career for bumping an official. Tough luck.
Anybody else there?
Alex Van Pelt was Bills QB that day. But according to the internet it was Steve Bono at QB not Doug Pederson (he was #3). Did I misremember or is it the Mandela Effect? ðĨļ

Just the vet minimum for a guy like Ryan is prolly too high.
