Correct. #12 with all his drama isn't worth what GB brass thinks he is. GB should give him away for a 3rd round pick. Show Love some real support and move on already.

I feel so dirty quoting a Bears fan but here goes.  Would you give away Bustin Fields for a 3rd?  Didn't  think so and we all know #12 is a better QB than Fields. So why should the Pack do that genius?

That sounds like the type of a trade a cellar dweller like the Bears would make.

I'd bring back Benkert depending on how the draft goes.
LOL, and he is a major tweeter. I know his daughter almost as well as he does.

Speak o' the Devil...
Was channel surfing this afternoon and came across an XFL game.
Apparently, Benkert now plays for the San Antonio team (2nd game), and had a decent day.
22/31, 179 yds, 1 TD 1 INT. Returned to the game after a chest injury from a hard hit.

Interestingly, they were playing the Las Vegas team who is supposed to have Hundley as QB. However, he's only played in about half their games (4), and during them, he has split snaps with another QB.
For the season, he is 37/69, 496 yds, 3 TD 0 INT

Cutler was traded with the Broncos' fifth-round selection in the 2009 NFL Draft pick to the Chicago Bears for quarterback Kyle Orton, the Bears' first- and third-round selections in 2009, and first-round pick in the 2010 NFL Draft on April 3, 2009.

To be fair, Cutler did play eight seasons in Chicago and was probably their best QB in team history.

He's also only seven months older than Rodgers and has been retired five years. He could be going in to the all of Fame this year, except for being Jay Cutler.

Never forget the interview with Woodson after the Packers thumped the Bears. "Same old Jay!"

I can’t recall who but I think it was a Viking who said the same about #4….paraphrasing here….…. he will give us a couple of shots.

Every Viking fan I knew told me that. I didn't disagree. Favre made some of the craziest decisions I've ever seen. More than once I remember him running out of bounds and flipping the ball back into the playing field for an INT. It's only fitting that he threw across the field for a pick that eliminated the Vikes against the Saints.

Benkert's first TD of the season.

Just highlighting the contrast in compensation for those Bare fans who happen to be lurking. It kind of demonstrates the lustrous history of how to not have hof qbs, while simultaneously believing you know what Rodgers is worth at 39 yrs old.

I assume you meant, "If the Jets wanted the deal done with terms they were willing to accept, it would have already been done."

What would be very funny is the deal essentially sitting in an envelope (e-mail)  and the league not “opening” it to keep the speculation in the media cycle until after the NCAA championship to keep the numbers churning. Announce the deal tomorrow and control the hype. Then draft speculation and mocks shift into overdrive and ride that three-week wave until the draft proper.

I’m being mostly facetious, but the NFL is pretty good at controlling and feeding the hype train to their benefit. I saw something about it being a trending story every day since thevJets got permission to talk to him.

Herschel,

I had that exact same conversation with some of my friends this weekend.  The one thing the NFL is very good at is making sure they are staying at the front of the news cycle especially since this is kind of a dead spot in the sports year.

Sure, the Packers know, the Jets know, AR knows and the NFL knows that the deal is done.

There would be at minimum dozens of folks involved with keeping that secret.

I don’t buy it.  Not saying the league would not like that and try it.

That wouldn’t work, but I also wouldn’t be completely surprised if Douglas and Gutekunst were directed by someone at the the league office not to announce anything until a certain point. ‘Don’t tell us anything until April 4th at 8am” would be easier to manage.

NFL definitely controls the news hype cycle. No question

The NFL actually passed a rule saying that teams with the # 1 pick couldn't sign their guy before the draft - because...they NEED your eyeballs on that telecast

Manufactured drama is their calling card and the Rodgers/ NYJets shit is a wet dream for them.

Excerpt from the LeRoy Butler interview

You’ve been an iconic figure in the Packers organization for three decades now. What makes the Packers special? Because whether it’s that presser in 2021 or the McAfee spot two weeks ago, it sure sounds like Rodgers is trying to say it’s not special like it used to be.

Butler: It’s special because you don’t have fans — you have shareholders. That’s the best DNA of the Green Bay Packers. I ain’t ever leaving that. Never.
I’ve talked to some players who go to other organizations and, man, they like the Packers. It ain’t even close. It ain’t even in the same ballpark.
What this fan base has done for this team and, since Mark Murphy has been there, Green Bay looks like a mini Las Vegas. It’s amazing out there.
That stadium. The amenities...

"...You’ve got to be fair about this. This isn’t bashing Aaron Rodgers. The facts are, you’ve got to understand the G never changes. The players do."

The more we hear nothing the more I think you are right, this deal is done. I don't watch McAfee, did see the Rodgers interview a few weeks ago, but assume Rodgers has been on and hasn't mentioned anything. I don't think he'd be quiet about it unless it was a done deal. The NFL loves the media rehashing all of this possible trade compensation discussions. The NFL has built itself into a year round topic with the NFL channel and stories like the Rodgers trade which develop a life of their own.

If the deal was done the Packers wouldn't want to wait. They'd want to get that contract off the books as soon as possible in case Rodgers picks up an off season injury that nixes the deal and they're end up stuck with him.

Imagine that...Gutey and Russ Balls doing their job and trying to get the most possible for 12...don't the know the Jets are the media fanboys team?!
