Bill Huber, Packers insider for SI was on local sports radio today and threw out an interesting theory. Essentially , the deal between the Jets and Packers is wrapped up. However, GB is waiting until draft night to see if player X is available at 13. If this player is, the Packers and Jets swap 1sts and the rest of the trade falls into place that’s been agreed to. If that player is already gone at 13, then a swap doesn’t take place and the already agreed to trade is altered slightly but still takes place.

So in short, both teams would be waiting to see how picks 1-12 take place before finalizing that night.

That’s a rather interesting and plausible scenario.

$38 M in dead cap says unlikely. Bakh structured his deal so that he isn't trade-able and that's probably not a coincidence.

No clue why some fans want to dump an elite LT, but I'd happily dump them for a ham sammich.

I don't think it's to get rid of the guy, at least for most people, it's the get something for him rather than cutting him next year and getting nothing back when you're rebuilding for long term scenario.

I get it, from that standpoint. If they plan to be competing for a championship in 2025, why hold on to a guy who most likely won't be here for it.

Of course the other angle is making sure Love doesn't get David Carr'd by 2025.

translation, the Jets will use their pic 13 and a 2nd round pic to move into the top 10. Screwing the Packers in the process.

yep i could see it. Jets swap with the Eagles, move into the 10 spot, and with the 10th overall pick they choose Rodgers replacment and take Kentucky qb Will Levis.

I don't understand this swapping firsts shit. They should be able to get a first for Rodgers ass.

From the time when I read GutenChrist said he wanted a "premium pick" (because ARod is a premium player), I interpreted that as "first round pick" whether this year or next.

I can't see him moving from that position.

This idea was in the media several weeks ago.   Might have been Huber.

Here's an idea.  Knowing the state of the Jets' OL, what if AR told Woody he'd only come play for him if they drafted an OT at #13?

Rodgers himself said on P McAfees show he doesn't make such statements. It's ridiculous.

The media watches websites like X4 when they run out of content to discuss.

I’m pretty sure I’ve seen myself quoted in some national publications.

”Get off my lawn”

”Where’s my newspaper?”

“Can the first chair support my weight?”

”I pooped my pants.”

Well if AR says he wouldn't say such a thing we should definitely believe him.

This seems the most logical explanation.

49ers don’t have much scratch this year…

  • Round 3, Pick 99 (compensatory)
  • Round 3, Pick 101 (compensatory)
  • Round 3, Pick 102 (compensatory)
  • Round 5, Pick 155 (via Miami Dolphins)
  • Round 5, Pick 164
  • Round 5, Pick 173 (compensatory)
  • Round 6, Pick 216 (compensatory)
  • Round 7, Pick 222 (via Denver Broncos)
  • Round 7, Pick 247
  • Round 7, Pick 253 (compensatory)
  • Round 7, Pick 255 (compensatory)

If the Jets don't make a trade for draft picks this year the Niners really come into play. They've proven they'll trade future high round draft picks. Gute wants something this year but if it doesn't happen with the Jets the Niners might drop a couple future #1s for Rodgers.

Its even worse in 2024 as it stands right now.

Right now they have TWO picks one in the third and one in the fifth round.

A lot to play out yet such as will they really trade Lance? and if so what would they get for him?  Also, They are expected to land a few 3rd round comp picks for some players they lost this year.

I wonder if the rumors that they are shopping Trey Lance have anything to do with this.  If they could get a low 1/high 2 for Lance (maybe?) and package that with some 3s, they might get it done.  When I saw the reports of them shopping (or "receiving inquiries") about Lance, my immediate thought is why they would go into a season with Purdy coming off serious surgery and a half season of experience.

The 49ers are loaded and should be doing everything possible to get that ring now. IMHO, Rodgers would probably get them there.

My guess is that any trade for Lance will include a conditional 2024 based on his play time and success. The rumor was that the vikes and 9ers talked QB swap at the combine with Cousins heading to SF and Trey Lance headed to minny.

But like everything involving kark, he failed to consummate. ( so far)

Purdy disclosed that he recently had surgery and said he might miss the entire 2023 season. So if Lance is on the market the Niners have to be eyeing Rodgers. They certainly can plan on trotting Sam Darnold onto the field as their starter.

Guessing we get pick 42 this year from Jets, and a conditional pick in 2024 if Ghee Boy plays for the Jets in 2024. This thing will get done on the eve of the 2nd round.

I have a feeling the Packers hardline the Jets on that 2024 pick being a #1 no conditions. If the deal falls through the Jets are toast. Now the 2024 draft comes into play as compensation and other teams will be looser than the Jets with their picks. The Jets are being handed a HOF QB and they could blow it. Rodgers is theirs for the taking but not forever. The Packer won't get what they want but the Jets will get nothing.

I should have checked the source before clicking on it. A friend sent me the link as a joke, but I hate that I gave them (Heavy) a click. Here's the dumbest fucking trade scenario I've seen yet:

  • Packers receive a 2023 first-round pick (No. 13) and a conditional 2024 third-round pick from the Jets, which can elevate to a 2024 second-round pick if the Jets win a playoff game next postseason.
  • Jets receive Rodgers and a 2023 third-round pick (No. 78) from the Packers, as well as a 2023 first-round pick from the Seahawks (No. 20).
  • Seahawks receive a 2023 second-round pick (No. 42) from the Jets and a 2023 second-round pick (No. 45) from the Packers.

So Green Bay Gives up Rodgers, their second AND their third for #13 and a conditional pick next year. If Gutekunst made that deal, Murphy should veto it and fire him immediately.

I saw that trade a couple days ago and wondered why the Packers would even consider that. This is where it comes from. -------------------

But recently, ESPN’s Bill Barnwell came up with a trade scenario to finally get Rodgers to the Jets but also gets a third team involved in the party to help the deal reach the finish line.

Barnwell’s proposal involves the Jets, Packers and Seattle Seahawks. The deal breaks down like this: the Jets trade No. 13 this year to the Packers as well as a conditional third-round pick in 2024 that becomes a second-round pick if the Jets win a playoff game in 2023. The Jets get Rodgers and the Nos. 45 and 78 picks in this year’s draft.
