Packers demanding #13 outright, and the Jets refusing and settling for swapping picks.

Honestly, it makes neither side look bad nor does it make Gute a genius and Douglas a bad negotiator.

Do you really think Gutey did it after he drafted Love to replace Rodgers and saw how Rodgers reacted after drafting Love? It had to kill him to watch his buddy Schneider collect that cache.

I don’t think there was ever a negotiation or  a deal in place to nix  as the Packers were never going to trade a back to back MVP in the first place so why would they waste their time negotiating ?

I may have missed it among all the fleecing by each side but how much of AR's remaining contract is GB still on the hook for once the deal is complete?  I thought a big part of the win was getting the remainder of the contract off our books but now I've also read conflicting reports.

Anybody want to explain it to my 5 year olds so they can explain it to me?

The trade will occur pre-June 1, so we have a one-time dead cap hit of $40 million in 2023 (or less depending on how the contract is restructured at trade time) and nothing more, ever.

Anyone who says this trade was bad for the Packers is dumb and you should tell them they are dumb.

I think if we keep arguing this thread will go over 200 pages.  So let’s keep it going.

BTW I know that Murphy killed that trade and he also killed JFK.  No speculation on my part.  I know this for a fact.

You “Murphy killed the trade” guys are so full of shit.

So the Gute fans are now insisting it was Murph, and nobody but the Murph, who who last offseason (A) nixed the trade to Denver and (B) then lavished Rodge with that ridiculous new deal right after nixing the trade?

By golly, given how he has kept quiet and displayed nothing but his usual unfaltering fealty to Murph since Murph completely and utterly neutered him when it came to dealing with Rodge in 2022 (according to the Gute fans), it is no wonder that Gute is so popular inside 1265 Lombardi.

Is there any greater attribute when it comes to Packer front office personnel than supine loyalty to one's boss?

This is one of the best parts of the deal.  Rip the band-aid off now and be done with it.  Still have Love on his rookie deal so the Packers are paying the QB position about $44 million this year (I think Love is making about $4 million??)

Douglas gave up a lot  more than he wanted to. Just swapping picks is a huge deal. He was adamant about keeping that pick. For the Packers to simply trade up for that pick would cost pick #100, a 3rd rounder this year. But even worse for Douglas, he might lose out on that LT he wanted to protect Rodgers. The Packers could very easily draft a LT. It also moves division rival NE, picking #14, ahead of the Jets.

Getting two #2 pick was a pipedream and never seriously talked about in rumored trade proposals. The 5th for a 6th is almost insignificant when it was rumored he wanted something in 2025 if Rodgers only played 1 year.

Well, yeah, he's have liked to give up a #2 and be done with it, but that wasn't realistic. The pick swap is nice, but isn't that big of a deal. The only reason pick #100 is still a 3rd is because San Fran knows how to hire good minority coaches, so you're stretching mightily there.

It was a fair trade for both sides, period.

Douglas kept maximum resources for this year, assuming higher risk next year. When going "all-in" that makes sense.

Gutekunst traded risk and better compensation this year for less risk/ better compensation odds next year.

One guy is trying everything to win the Super Bowl in 2023/2024, the other is trying to rebuild in 2023/2024. They both got what they needed.

Despite H5's advice, I'm going to ask if ARod's trade can be designated post- June 1?
Wouldn't the dead cap be spread over 2 years that way?
I thought that might be part of the 'modified contract' Rodgers is supposed to sign to facilitate the trade.

Saleh has won 11 games in 2 seasons and has no QB. He even fired MLF's brother to bring Hackett in for Rodgers. He's already bending for Rodgers and trying to save his job.

Or bending for Woody.

If there was any truth at all to it, it would have been all over the news. Big crock of shit.

Murphy stopped the Rodgers trade to Denver last year. It was a done deal until Murphy stepped in.

Fck Murphy from here to eternity. That fucker can't turn 70 fast enough

Can I get some sauce with that?    AKA, citation.

The Broncos are set to offer a first and second round pick in the 2022 NFL Draft and a first-round pick in 2023 in exchange for Rodgers.

That's interesting.

Gute would have made that trade in a heartbeat last year so only Murphy could stop him. Last year Murphy didn't listen and called Rodgers a "complicated fella". One year later he knows Rodgers is a pain in the ass and OKed the trade.

I tend to agree, it makes sense, since MLF and Gute weren't/aren't huge AR fans, but it's still purely speculation.  No matter who it was, it was a major fuck up.

Yes I believe Denver was interested and that's why they brought Hackett in, but I don't believe the GBP were ever in negotiations as they were never going to trade a back to back MVP. Yes that is only my opinion but I haven't seen any reports to the contrary.

He WAS a 4-time MVP.  His play was pretty ordinary last year and he turns 40 this year, so there are no reasons to expect an upward trajectory.

Unless he just feels like playing better.  He's a complicated fella.

Only in Green Bay is the QB with a broken thumb and ribs, ineffective offensive line, Green as grass WRs, and a lousy defense expected to play like an MVP

His play was less of an issue than if he was worth the contract. Especially since Denver was offering a shit ton of compensation for a guy who, despite two NFC championship games at home, couldn't lift the team to the SB, whose attitude got older than he was, and he was old.  I appreciate what he did, it was nice to be in the mix every season, but he just stopped being worth it.  Last year was the perfect time to move on.

Never going to trade a back-to-back MVP is also speculation.  I live in Denver and watch the media closely.  Rodgers was deal numero uno, Wilson was plan B.  Schlereth and several media outlets here stated the deal was imminent.  Broncos fans were already clinking the champaign glasses.  You'd be stupid not to consider a trade like that.  You'd be even more stupid to pass it up.

I haven't read anything that suggested that the Packers were in negotiations with Denver. If they wanted to move on from him they had the perfect opportunity as he was pissed off and ready to leave. Instead they kissed his ass and signed him to a ridiculous contract. It is VERY unlikely they were going to trade a back to back MVP.

How many times will the previously Sunday early game Jets be on late Sunday, Sunday nite, Monday nite and Thursday.  My guess, 4 late Sundays and 3 of the others.  Conversely, lots of Sunday nooners coming up for GB.

We had a good run.

I’m not sure it’s possible to fully express the gratitude that I have to the @packers , our incredible fans, the state of Wisconsin, the thousands of players that I crossed paths with, the incredible men and women who work for the organization, and the amazing people who I got to meet along the way, in one post with 10 pictures, but I hope you read this and feel my heart and soul, filled with love, joy, and peace about my time in green and gold. 💚💛

I grew up in Green Bay, drafted at 21, fell in love with the game, met some lifelong friends, and take with me memories that will last a lifetime.

I’m grateful to the late Ted Thompson for drafting me, for my head coaches, especially the 13 years with Mike McCarthy, and the last 4 with Matt LaFleur. I had some incredible men to work with in the QB room over the years including Tom, AVP, Luke, and Connor.

Huge thank you to my guys in the equipment room, Red, TBone, Odea, Kev, Bryan, Andy Grouber, All my dear friends in the training room over the years, Nate, Flea, Doc McKenzie, Doc Gray, Pepp, and Cuz. The legendary Adam Korzun and his incredible staff; Dougie, Crabby, and Scotty, for always looking out for me; Tom, Nate, Sarah, and Jason in PR, Evan for bringing my work life to film, The Rock and Wayne, for giving words to the highlights of my career, Grey, and Big Rob for your work with our guys over the years, Bloke, Thad, Grant and Gizz in the weight room, Bob Harlan, Russ Ball, Mark Murphy and Brian Gutekunst for your stewardship of the organization, every one on the 3rd and 4th floors who make that building run smoothly, and so many countless others at the loading dock, tours, concessions, maintenance, our field crew, etc.

To the fans, THANK YOU, you made every run out of the tunnel special, every home game magical, and it was my honor to be your QB.

To my teammates, I love you all, and am thankful for the moments on and off the field that brought us close. I played with legends, I played with friends; thanks for believing in me and having my back always ❤️

This is not the end for us, I will see you again Green Bay, you’ll always have my heart ❤️

Damn.... There is no minus in football

That's a nice farewell from him. I'm glad to see that.

What did we get from Favre? I can't remember. 🤣😆

If Rodgers Hollywood starlet Broncos fan girlfriend hadn't dumped him he'd be in Denver.

Thd excitement of seeing him and the Queens choke job. Perfect ending.

And the unfortunate Postscript of him stealing dollars from the underserved of his home state.
