The problem with dealing Cousins is do you think Justin Jefferson wants to extend in Minnesota for a team that will be going full rebuild?

Or maybe you trade both and hit the reset button.  It’s going to be a really good QB draft class and the Vikings are going nowhere with or without Kark.

At least they aren’t the Bears.  You spend a ton of draft capital on a QB (Fields) that can’t throw and there’s literally no trade market for the guy.

They have to blow up that team. Jefferson isn't coming back, Cousins or not. Cousins has shown he can't carry a team and isn't a guy the players rally around. They have only a handful of really good players that other teams would want: Jefferson, Hunter, Hockenson, maybe Addison. If they traded Jefferson, the haul in return would go a long way toward rebuilding. Cousins isn't going to get them much in a trade, but it would get his contract off the books. MN's biggest mistake is their new GM hasn't hit in the draft. Compare his drafts to Gute's and it's not even close.

There has been lots of online chatter about Cousins to NYJ, so that's not a new idea.  But bringing a QB in mid-season?  It clearly wouldn't be more than a half year job.  That would be a very bold deal for MIN to make with no one really in mind to replace him.  And counting on having good enough draft position to get their future QB next spring.  The vikings could really suck this year but I don't even know that they could do that better than everyone else.

Jefferson has a 5th year option next season at 19M.   If they are going to keep him I’d think they extend him rather than pay the year 5 option?

The issue I see is Cousins is a good but not great QB and that team has a lot of holes - specifically RB, OL, DB and LB.   The defense other than DL is a mess.

I know the fans won’t want to hear it but they need to trade Cousins to the highest bidder and draft a QB next year.   At best that’s an 8 win team this year.  They’d be better tanking and hoping to get a top 5 pick.   If Caleb Williams and Shadeur Sanders don’t declare all of a sudden Drake Maye is taken 1 or 2 overall and Bo Mix and Penix just got vaulted up the charts.

Do you think Jefferson would want to stick around if the vikings look like they are in re-build mode? I'm betting he will want to move on. Didn't he already turn down an extension offer from the vikings? Kark could get traded to a team, like the Jets, or maybe the Bucs. If he did, it would really look like re-build mode in Minnesota. FWIW, The only game, in the next few weeks, I feel the vikings have a shot at winning, is the Panthers' game and I hope the Panthers step up against the vikings.

I'd love to see Minnesota get the first pick in the draft and fail to get it in, on time, once again, so the team with pick #2, the Bears, can select a Center. Incompetence running wild!

It's really very understandable for the Bears. The Bears' GM will be advised to draft a player who can be a real centerpiece to the team for years to come. The GM, under pressure of the draft clock, will misinterpret the advice and draft a center.

Cousins is the ultimate robot QB. He doesn't want to make decisions on his own and risk taking any heat, even with so many years of experience. He runs plays as called, even if the D is stacked against a play. Almost any other QB would have clocked it when he couldn't hear the call, yet Cousins lets more than 20 seconds run off the clock because he says he tries "not to make a habit of" making his own decisions during a game. That's why he's a good passer, but not a big-time QB or leader.
