Interesting last few days. I think this is the sequence.

News about the 3 internal candidates.

McCarthy says 'fit' with GM is important about elevnty-billion times

Reported that Ball is likely the guy

Rumor McCarthy would leave if Ball gets the job

Packers were interested in Reggie, but denied access

Word is Rodgers is not too keen about Ball either

Packers request, but denied, to speak with Schneider

From the piece:

The Packers also could argue that they should be allowed to interview Schneider because the job could be viewed as a promotion, since Schneider and Seahawks coach Pete Carroll share responsibilities in player acquisition. In Green Bay, the general manager has full authority over all football decisions, including the draft, free agency and hiring and firing of the coach.

Really like to see the organization press this line of argument. Now isn't the time to be timid.

Other possibility is a trade.

Jesus **** Tom, way to be on the cutting edge. Some of us mentioned a trade possibility for Schneider several days ago already. Our local media is pretty limited.

Give Tom a break. There’s a lot going on and X4’s traffic has been heavy as of late. Tom got a little behind on the threads. The β€œtrade” comment means he’s catching up.

Yeah but we know how precious draft picks are to some. Guessing if they can get Schneider by offering a promotion, he's our new GM. If Seattle wants compensation for Schneider then Wolf is more probable.

Hadl trade didn’t set another franchise up for a decade of success.

John Hadl traded to Packers (1974). This trade doomed the Packers to nearly two decades' worth of despair while concurrently aiding the Rams' run as one of the powerhouse teams of the 1970s. The Packers, desperate for help at quarterback and figuring a veteran signal-caller was all that the team ...

Why didn't the Rams enjoy MORE success with those picks?

Because they often lost to the Vikings in the playoffs.

How embarrassing to have to "trade" for a GM.  That's very Browns-ish.

What a dysfunctional franchise.

Expert advice from fans of a team that gave us the Herschel walker trade. Priceless

Got any John Hadl trade stories?

Got any Herschel Walker trade stories?

Yeah...ahh...that was already mentioned in the quotes.  Follow along.

Well, at least the Hadl trade didn't serve as the basis for a 30-for-30 film, The Great Trade Robbery. And Walker had all of four 100-yard games with the Vikings to Emmitt Smith's five in his first 18 games. Was the Hadl trade awful? Absolutely. Was it epic and still discussed today as the worst trade in history? Nope, that "distinction" goes to the Vikings. Just own it.
