Well, that sucked.

Lotta season left.

Chastened 6-1 Packers versus (so far) undefeated 6-0 Panthers (Carolina hosts Indianapolis on MNF Monday evening).

Sunday, November 8, 12:00 PM LFT on FOX (for now), at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte.

This game will show a lot about what our team, coaches and players, are made of.

Hey, image will be there (for now), in primo seats in section 111, right about the 50, row 16. If you're there say hello!

Weak

Living here in the Carolinas, I see alot of Carolina games.  Carolina is a good team.  I believe that they have won 10 straight regular season games dating back to last year.  This will be a tough road game.

The only thing I'd like to see come out of Carolina this weekend are signs the offensive staff figured out this square peg round hole scheme needed to be tweaked.

Next week isn't must win. But the offense needs to show signs it's breaking out of this funk.

Id also give up a testicle for a real TE. IMO Rodgers was a huge liability last night. Couldn't block and couldn't get open. That was ugly.

Carolina is on a short week and we have been able to beat them soundly in the past. There shouldn't be any excuses for this game. Carolina isn't really elite anywhere except ILB and CB, they just play hard, smashmouth football and take advantage of mistakes. The run D will be tested this week once again, 5 out of 7 times this season they have had lights out run D, let's hope the same run D shows up.

They need to get Lacy rolling. He has to get back on track and get his confidence up. He can do it, when he had opportunities against Denver he looked like his old self, Those opportunities were few and far between though. Pound the rock against Carolina and let Rodgers get himself back on track as well.

Lots of ball to be played, no need to panic.  But improvements are needed on both sides of the ball, not just tweaks either.  I am no wonk like some here. I do not know how to scheme guys open, seems like other teams do it, some with what I think a lesser stable of WR's (Pats).  Unless Joe Thomas falls in TT lap (it is a joke) they are stuck with the tackles they have, they need help.  Tight end is a disaster , not sure how this can be fixed. Lacy had a couple of nice runs but IMO I fear we have seen his best (I fervently hope I am wrong but my eyes don't lie)

D is banged up for sure but before they were banged up Denver's guys     were running free as were San Diego"s last week.  No rush to speak of.  poor tackling, Does Dom ever need to be held accountable?  I am sure that TT and MM have questions for him, what can his answers be?

Next week is not a must win but it is a must play better week.

I guarantee Jonathan Stewart will have more than 5 yards rushing unless he gets hurt & doesn't play.

Disagree about next week not being a must win.

It's an NFC game & they MUST win if they have any expectations about acquiring HFA throughout playoffs

We are sucking so bad, I don't know what there is to talk about. McCarthy needs to prove his mettle as a HC right now. The DEN loss was an appalling embarrassment.

I think Mike will get this cleaned up in time for CAR. At least, I hope he does.

Hmmm.

... The problems that have plagued the unit - and inflicted the Packers overall - had once again been illuminated in inglorious fashion on the projection screen for all to see.

And it was time for it all to end. Past time, actually.

With the coaches still in the room, the veteran leaders on offense, one by one, took turns addressing the rest of the unit.

"It was a come-to-Jesus meeting," ....

While the overall tone of the words were positive and reinforced all the good things the ... offense has done and can build upon, there also were some very critical moments.

Some of the words were so blunt, it didn't take long for defensive players to hear about it.

"Heard they really had it out," said one player. "Good. I don't think anything but positive things can come from that."

Quarterback Aaron Rodgers was told he has held onto the ball too long on occasion. The offensive line was told they weren't blocking close to well enough. The receivers heard they have dropped too many passes. The running backs had left too many yards out on the field...

From November 11, 2009. After the debacle in Tampa.

Sometimes veteran leadership can get things done. Just do it.

... Let's see if McCarthy has any real power as a HC. This is his to fix. This stinking pile of ****. We are better than this. Gotta employ the right players who can get the job done.

IIRC you were off the board for a few years. Check out this epic thread from last season.

Fulfilling Chilli's prediction from page 1 of that thread a few years early:

The TE position is killing them. If Richard Rodgers can't block, he shouldn't be playing TE in the NFL since he has no value in stretching the defense at all. He ran a 4.9 40 and was projected by some NFL mock drafts as a 6th rounder since he was scouted as a terrible blocker in college. He has good hands, but that's about it. Sit him down and either play two fullbacks or let Janis or Abbrederis play.

Vernon Davis in Green Bay would be amazing.

He still has a lot left & Randall Cobb would be WIDE open on most plays with Davis in this offense.

Oh BTW....did I mention Davis is an OUTSTANDING blocker?

Change of scenery is exactly what Davis needs

Boris, I agree on Vernon Davis.  I know he has had a couple of tough years but I bet a change of scenery could do him a world of good.  And if the guy is really healthy for once give the Packers a split the seam TE they haven't had.

I also am concerned about Olsen and Stewart but not as concerned about their other WR's.  The other thing I really worry about is Newton's mobility.  For some reason we have stunk against mobile QB's recently.

I honestly and truly believe (maybe it is my green and gold glasses) that GB will come out breathing fire this Sunday.

I think it's time for TT stop planning for the future and get some offensive weapons NOW. He's got his philosophy of building through the draft, and that works most of the time. But when players go down with injuries, we need to replace them with significant playmakers, not a 5th round rookie.

I'll admit I was wrong about the impact losing Jordy had on our offense. I thought Rodgers was great enough to make any receiver look good. Well, obviously Rodgers needs some grade A players to help him out. We've been able to win (before Denver) by Rodgers extending the play by moving in the pocket.  Rodgers can't do it alone; he needs some other bonafide stars on the team. If they were on our roster, we would have seen them by now.

If we want to have any hope of winning a Super Bowl this year, Thompson has to go out and pick up someone who will make an impact. Rodgers isn't getting younger, and I hate the thought of him retiring with just one SB win.

Season isn't over if they lose in Carolina.

Things aren't fixed if they win in Carolina.

This team has some **** to work out. It's not all getting fixed this weekend.

GB can't go to Carolina thinking they have to win. They have to go to Carolina and play better football. On both sides of the ball.

Agreed. They have to show they can move the ball on offense and stop a crossing pattern on defense. If Cam Newton beats them by running for 80 yards and 2 TDs because he makes some athletic plays, you can live with that. If Cam Newton beats them by hitting Greg Olsen over and over again across the middle, then there's significant problems.

Win or lose they are highly likely to make the playoffs and, if they take care of business against the Vikings, host at least one playoff game. The thing is is that this game may determine whether they play a playoff game in Charlotte or in Green Bay. Rodgers' ability to make pre-snap changes and audibles (and use the hard count) is much higher at home.
