Wait, Chillijon is Coach McCarthy?
It's all adding up.
It's all about stacking articles.

cut Bishop?
Hopefully it goes from MM's mouth to Finley's ears unfiltered. He needs to hear what MM and Rodgers say to him, take it to heart, and do it. Just shut up and execute and then I'll start listening again.

correct me if I am wrong, but did it sound like he said he needs to earn Rodger's trust back, like he (Finley) needed to do something?
I'd speculate those types of words came from coach, cause Fin doesn't come up with that on his own.

Bishop was a beast on the team when they won Super Bowl XLV. Finley was chugging cups of Gatorade on the sideline in street clothes.
right, cause I want to cut Bishop
I get that. Finley is an arrogant individual right now that needs to pull a dominant game out of his ass when the Pack needs him most.
As I recall, all Finley was doing was complaining about how he was excluded from the team photo. He and Nick Barnett were b*tching about it.
I think the reason they had success in 2010 without Finley was a result of the offense not being "centered" around 1 player. Not saying McCarthy was putting all his eggs in one basket with Finley, but I think a lot of his offense was predicated on Finley drawing coverage or extra attention from defenses. Once that went away and there wasn't ONE GUY that the offense was "designed around" I think things became a little less predictable. I think 2011 saw McCarthy's vision from 2010 come true only this time teams were worried about all the other players that showed out in 2010 and made the whole offense more unpredictable. The only truly unpredictable thing we have seen from the offense in 2012 is Cobb's expanding role and maybe Benson's role to a degree. I think defenses have caught up with the offense and Finley, making both look worse than they are at times, so I think McCarthy needs to look for different ways to use a guy like Finley and think a little more out of the box with the whole show.

Beast mode my ass
Just STFU and have a consistent game. You know, one that doesn't involve multiple drops or missed blocks or other meltdowns.
I would be fine with 5 catches for 70 yards as long as no stupid drive killing plays.

Completely agree with Tschmack.
I feel like people expect Finley to light it up every game. He doesn't have to go out there and light it up and be Jimmy Graham or Gronkowski. Just catch the damn ball when it's thrown to you.
Especially with Nelson possibly out again this week, and with McCarthy pulling Finley aside to show him the '09 tape this week, Finely could see some more opportunities.

@ Grave Digger - Right on!!! Especially comment regarding the focus that was on Finley. I would only add that the Packers can be predictable to some degree and win so long as the o-line is on their game and Arod and the receivers are in sync. Unfortunately the o line is not too good.
The guy has lost nearly all of his confidence he had built up, the more mistakes he makes the more he talks ... he seems like he is just a nervous wreck right now.
Last week I saw him miss a block where the defender came down hard inside and he wasn't ready for it, he threw his arms up and he sure seemed like he was yelling at himself.
I've had a bit of change of thought with him, I think he knows he is effing up and he SHOULD be better than this.
I really hope he starts stringing some successes together because if he does this offense really would get that extra dimension its missing to make a run to open things up.
All JMO.

That's my point.
We don't need him to carry the offense and catch 10 passes for 200 yards and score 3 TDs every game. Just catch the few passes thrown your way and keep your mouth shut. The little things matter too- like acting like a leader and taking blocking seriously.
Just because he's had a few huge games doesn't mean that's what he should expect-or us as fans for that matter.

Compare him to Keith Jackson, in both categories
Whoa, Nellie!
They do wear the same number. Coincidence? I think not.
Boris,Thanks for the link. Hope the discussion helps Finley improve his game.

He better do something because I'm starting him on my fantasy team this week. He should have a better match-up than Heath Miller vs. the Giants.
Keith Jackson was a phenomenal TE.
I can't even say at this point that Jerkmichael is better than Chewy or Bubba Franks. At least those guys were reliable. Finley is a tease and thank God TT didn't get suckered into signing him long term.

The defense had a stretch in 2010 where they gave up 40 points total over the course of 6 weeks and when they absolutely had to win from week 16 through the Superbowl just 16 points allowed per game. There were several games along the way where the offense was abysmal (by their standards) and I think they get swept under the rug because of winning the championship. I think if the defense didn't perform the way they did there would have been no Superbowl and we'd all be lamenting how much of a difference Jermichael would have made for the offense.quote:Originally posted by Grave Digger:

That was a very good defense. Jenkins was a stud, Raji was dominant down the stretch, Bishop was pounding people, Williams was Revis Jr., Woodson was two years younger and Collins was in the prime of a possible Hall of Fame career. Only a few of those players remain, and none of them are playing nearly as well as they did in 2010.
Raji's & Williams game has really disappeared this season imo.

...people who still maintain that it is "all in Finley's head" are kidding themselves. He is just not as athletic "post injury".. he does not show the burst, acceleration, jumping ability, or ability to adjust to the ball in the air that he exhibited pre injury....doesn't account for the drops, but I don't know if we'll ever see him in 2009 form again...just look at the video!!

Two things jump out at me from the vid.
1. MM was right: Finley used his hands a lot more than his body back then. I don't have any faith today that he would make those snatches out of the air over the DB like he often did back then. He did attack the ball more, and used those good hands rather than letting the ball come to his body like he does today. Maybe it's Rodgers putting the ball into his body more than throwing it to his hands, but Finley has to get back to using his hands.
2. He doesn't have the physical ability he did then. Whether that's between his ears or in his knees may be debatable. In the video he does use his body a lot more to go over guys, through guys and past guys. Now he doesn't. Is he worried about injury or is his body shot? We won't know for sure until he shows us one way or another consistently.
Those quick slants, WOW...
In that video he also simply outmuscled and ran over DB's. They looked literally helpless trying to defend him....like he was playing against 8th graders.
He was faster, caught the ball effortlessly, and plucked the ball out of the air with his hands and almost never used his body to catch. It's little wonder why TT and MM want to give him every chance to become that player again.
Question is it the knee or in his head or a combo of both?

Just throwing this out there... has GB changed things up as far as how they use Finley? He used to line up wide quite a bit but I don't think he does that too often any longer.
Not making excuses for this dumdum, but it might have something to do with his decline.

Sorry but MM and TT should be able to figure out if it is their fault they are lining him up rong. Where you line up has little to do with catching and running over people or tweeting dum.
I was thinking the same thing when I watched the video - have we ran some of those plays lately?
Also, watching DJ Williams Arkansas highlight video, I could see him doing some of those things too. Maybe not the high stuff, but the inside stuff for sure.

Finley has as many drops (7) as Jason Witten and Jimmy Graham.
Graham and Witten have been targeted more than Finley.
Last year Finley was a chain moving monster. 44 of his 55 catches resulted in 1st downs. This year it's closer to 50% (15 out of 28) and it's been noted (a lot) that he's had some drive killing 3rd down drops.
His greatest value to GB is to get open on 3rd and long and move the sticks, exploit defenses inside the red zone, and occasionaly get loose for a big play downfield. He didn't come up with many explosive plays last year but he moved the chains and had 8 TD's. This year he's struggled in all 3 areas.

I know GB lead the league in scoring last year. But we also had the worst defense. Finley had 5 easy catches for a TD that he dropped. Rodgers hit him between the numbers in most of them. 13 TDs would have made some of those games less of an adventure and put Finley closer to the elite status that he should be in for a TE.
Finley has had 2 seasons where he caught 55 passes (2009 & 2011). That is one less than Coffman's 56 catches - which Coffman did once and did not approach again. Finley's stats compare favorably with other Packer TEs. The problem is what he leaves on the field.
No post game tweets yet?
Must be bye week.
Must be bye week.
Doubled all game... he got frustrated.
Aw hell....let's pile it on. When was the last time the Packers played an entire game without a penalty? Thanks for screwing that up today 88.
Must have been in a good mood. I thought he'd be cranky after the last game. He managed not to put his foot in his mouth. He's not getting interviews because he's playing well. Anyone who wants to talk to him right now is trying to angle for some controversy.
