That agent came out on the short end in his dealings with GB so he may have some residual butthurt- Finley didn't get the long term monster deal he wanted...he got a "show me" deal for two years

Rodgers may or may not have had a role in the discussions inside of 1265, but he didn't come out publicly in favor of resigning Finley like he did with James Jones

could be some butthurt there too...

*Cough* Darren Sharper *Cough*

Sure, he made mistakes, and was an insufferable d-bag at times...but the guy made up for it with game-changing INTs on a fairly regular basis. YOTTO drops key third down passes on a fairly regular basis.

112 catches. 752 yards. 16 TD's.

That was after game 1. After game 2 his projected stats look like this:
88 catches, 584 yards, 8 TD's

Don't forget the 8 fumbles/lost fumbles and the countless drops.

Unfortunately, I see it as possible he never improves from the standpoint of dropping the football.

We have see Jones and Nelson both have bad years with the drops.. As far as I recall, it wasn't a problem for Mouth up until last year. The first 2 weeks are not a good sign that it was an anomaly, but we have seen it in the past with other players.

I think it definitely can stick with a guy for his career. Guys like Owens and Marshall had/have regularly found themselves leading the league in drops. But they made up for it with production that most teams would gladly take at the cost of the drops.

I think what makes it a different problem for Finley is twofold: A)While Marshall and Owens were focal points, Finley is somewhere between the 3rd and 4th priority in this offense. Because of this, the drops represent a larger volume of his targets, and stand out even more. B) This team really needs Finley to be a move-the-sticks kind of guy. If Jones drops a home run shot it's maddening, but that's a 50/50 ball anyway that's probably coming on 1st or 2nd down. A drop over the middle on 3rd and 6 just killed a drive that depends on those shorter pickups.

I can't ever look at Finley without thinking about his ridiculous Wild Card game against Arizona, and just hope he can find that form again.

True to a point. Watch enough film and you begin to get a picture of what a teams TEs are capable of. Some are better at catching balls, some are better blockers, some are more uncomfortable playing from certain positions, and some are better overall athletes than others. When you see who is on the field, your defense (if they are prepared properly) should have a real good idea what to expect. Very rarely do enough of these traits come together in a single TE to make that guy a complete TE.

If I were coaching Finley, I might try telling him al week that the game is another practice and to go out & have fun. But either way, for Finley - time to step up.

I got no problem with Shields. He's been absolutely jobbed on 2 horrible pass interference calls in the past 3 weeks. He's played okay.

yep, Shields has been pretty good thus far. He is NOT the problem.
