From Chilli's link. I don't remember a drop from Jordy (perhaps self preservation is making me forget), but here is another theme I am not pleased with.

Nelson dropped a pass that was actually past the 1st down marker just before Finley dropped one that was not beyond the marker in the second half.

Agree 100%.

The loss of Jennings has a ripple effect.

I could see Cobb ascending to a #1, but not yet.

Meanwhile, when you factor in the drops with his $0.02 brain, Finley seems more and more like a useless slug.

#Packers TE Jermichael Finley (shoulder) said he "slightly dislocated his AC joint." Wonder if that's like being slightly pregnant?
Can't fix stupid

quote:

Finley said he wants to play because the game is in his home state, but also because of how important the game is.

“That’s one of the reasons we’re talking about this shoulder right now,” Finley said.

Finley was injured early in the third quarter of Sunday’s game at Indianapolis. Before his injury he caught three passes for just 11 yards against the Colts. He was targeted a total of five times.

I need the quarterback on my side, and I need to catch the ball when he throws it to me,” Finley said. “It takes two things to get that going. So the chemistry, I feel like we need to get that going.”

When asked about the chemistry with Rodgers, which Finley first brought up as an issue late last season, he said: “It’s OK.”

But not good enough?

“Not good enough at all,” he said. “Something to be worked on, and try to work on it as much as I can, try to talk to him as much as I can. But like I said, it takes two people

Well golly gee JerMike how about catching the fu***** ball? You know that'd probably do wonders for chemistry. Hard to have that when your QB can't trust that you'll catch the damn ball. Roll Eyes
I was willing to give Finley another shot this year. I was one of those who made every excuse in the book for him.

Coming into 2011, he was coming off a leg injury and the Pack was not able to monitor Finley during the off-season due to the lockout. Because of those 2 things, I felt that maybe he had an upside we might see in 2012 a full year recovered from the injury plus the Pack could keep tabs on him in the off-season.

Well, honestly, it seems like things are even worse with Finley this year. It seems like games like the playoff game vs. the Giants last year are becoming the norm now. When it comes to trying to break the tackles of smaller DBs, he puts up kind of a pitiful effort. He's not feeling confident, and it seems like the team isn't confident in him anymore either.

There's still time for Finley to turn it around this year, but like others, I don't think it will happen.

Yeah, or you could try to get on the reigning MVP's side, I suppose.
You can't fix stupid, but you can hide it.

I'd be willing to right now if he would simply shut up, but obvioulsy he can't.

Remember Terrell Owens? IIRC, he couldn't catch very well early in his career, either. He fixed the hands, but never the mouth, and the rest, as they say, is (sordid) history.
If there are football gods, finley goes down with a season injury in his hometown this weekend ...
and I do not give a flying fudge what anyone thinks of that being said.

The words he spews are cancerous.

and that was enough to knock you out of a dogfight game? not much heart there.

trump, the words are worse than the drops, definitely. It seems like finley might not be AR's best friend and finley thinks it's up to AR to change that - that's just dumb. STFU and play... but he never will.
What a dummy. Sooo tired of his schtick. That quote makes no sense whatsoever. He's had tons of opportunities this year. Way to create more distraction for your team when you need to be focused on the Texans. This is going to go national in 3...2...

He's definitely entering the cancer zone with this alright. Just can't STFU.

Exactly.. Maybe, Mouth, just maybe, you are an annoying mouth breathing cancer and Rodgers wants to distance himself from you off the field.

Ever think of that dip****?
...and then the full story has the rest of the quote from the same interview.

quote:
Finley, who had three catches for just 11 yards against the Colts, caught passes on the first two plays and then didn’t catch another until the first series of the third quarter.

“When I catch a ball in the first half, I mean the first quarter, the first few plays, and I don’t touch the ball until half, I get out of my groove, man,” Finley said. “It’s natural. You need to get your playmakers involved early, you know what I mean, to keep impacting the game.” -Green Bay Press Gazette
Still a dumb move to bring up the chemistry again but the rest of the story gives a little more context to the earlier quote. Doesn't excuse the drops or the idea that maybe he needs to find a way to stay in his 'groove' without getting the ball thrown to him, perhaps by focusing oh his mediocre blocking or improving his routes with every snap. He also comes off like an insecure guy that doesn't want to look at himself for the drops and instead blames his lack of 'groove' It's enough to make you want to say...

Finley should really just do himself a favor and not talk to the reporters. I'm sure the organization has tried to help him as much as they can but he can't keep his foot out of his mouth. The way he speaks gives a lot of freedom for interpretation.
quote:
"They're going to have to show me something. I'm not trying to beat them or see what I can do better than them, but they're going to have to show me a little more."

Funny, because I'm still waiting for Finley to show me something. I think we all are.

quote:
To be considered at the level of Gronkowski and Graham, Finley must improve at hanging on to the ball. According to STATS Inc., Finley had 11 drops on 92 targets (12 percent) last season. In contrast, Gronkowski had five drops on 124 targets and Graham had five drops on a whopping 149 targets.

Roll Eyes

If only JerMichael could catch the ball with his mouth. After all, that is always wide open.
His talent level isn't the problem. It's the fact he believes he's far better than he really is.

quote:
“When I catch a ball in the first half, I mean the first quarter, the first few plays, and I don’t touch the ball until half, I get out of my groove, man,”

So the drops, including one in the end zone, don't count as touches? You get out of your groove??? Try being the QB watching guys drop ball after ball if you want to see how to get someone out of their groove.

quote:
“It’s natural. You need to get your playmakers involved early, you know what I mean, to keep impacting the game.”

I think all of us are actually in complete agreement with this. That's why the Cobb thread was started.

He tells a reporter his shoulder isn't bad yesterday and that he feels great. Just not great enough to practice this week. While telling that same reporter he needs better chemistry with his QB, again.

If TT traded him today for anything he could get I would be perfectly fine with it. His baggage isn't worth the "greatness yet to come" (another Finley trademarked quote)
quote:

had the same thought and was trying to think of an AFC team that had someone we could use...
Joe Thomas!

But seriously, when GB drafted this guy I was afraid he was going to be a problem. It was obvious he had maturity issues. Even if he could maximize that talent I saw him becoming a T.O. clown... err, clone. Had that happened he would have demanded more money than T.T. would dish out and he would be gone first chance. But in the meantime, I think we all would have enjoyed T.O. type stats!

As it turns out, he has been an underachiever and he fails to recognize that he could be the problem. So rather than work his tail off to become better, he chooses to blame team chemistry or coaches. And he still has the nerve to look ahead and say it'll cost the Packers to keep him around.

I see him getting phased out by the end of his contract. Let him hit the free agent market and part ways.
