The way the receivers and TEs are playing you add Aaron Jones to this group and it supercharges this offense.  33 is the ultimate relief valve and probably adds another 5% to Love’s throwing accuracy with dump offs and screens.

BULLSHIT! This is a Tesla now. It jumps off the line (0-60 in 1.9 seconds) and doesn't relinquish the lead.

Overpriced with limited range?

Caught some espn chicago (670 score) today talking about GB.  One segment had Kurt Warner on to talk about QB play in general from this weekend.

He started off by saying regardless of all the improv and off platform off schedule plays todays popular QB's make, success is still coming down to who has the most success in the pocket.  Host asked him specifically about Love and beside all the usual compliments, what I found interesting was this, paraphrasing:

"When you look at what GB's offense did yesterday, they didn't have a ton of success scheming guys open.  That's not how they drove and scored points.  There were limited windows and Love was finding the open guy and making tough throws."

That is probably the most encouraging review I've heard so far on 10.  I am almost blushing.  That's the kind of stuff that separates the elite.

I see that different. The Reed throw was catchable, but I don't see it in any way as great. That and the Watson end zone were belly throws. Imo, He needs to give the receivers a chance to jump up and fight for it. The ball location is making Watson 5'10 instead of 6'5. It's nitpicking but that's the difference for success in NFL level football. If the ball comes in flat it's getting sent to the ground more often than not.

100% on the Wicks slant, but players also drop slants for every other QB in the league. It doesn't excuse his poor throws on other plays. He rarely ever hits a WR in stride. They're have been numerous early in the play opportunities he's passed over.

It's really difficult to play QB at the NFL level, but if he can't consistently place the ball in premium locations we're wasting everyone's time here. There's a myriad of flaws that make a QB untenable as a starter. If they want to fool around and give him two seasons to be dead sure he isn't the guy go for it, just make sure we're bringing in a QB with starter level potential that can develop in the mean time.

Love makes some pretty throws outside the hashes, but his crossers, and downfield throws make me wonder what the hell they've been doing to develop him the last three years. At some point all the arrows point to a lack of accuracy that can't be corrected. I might be wrong or I might be there sooner than you in realizing it. You can't build a successful offense with an inaccurate passer unless he's doing some Cam Newton level nonsense to make sh!T happen.

I'm not saying you're wrong for seeing things the way you do. There are plenty of drops and sloppy routes and everything else. I just have a difference of opinion on who 10 is, where he is, and what he's capable of.

If they believed in him despite everything around him I think they'd jump at the chance to sign him to a 4 year low money starter level contract with a modest signing bonus as soon as possible and he'd be smart to take it.

He's intentionally being put through the crucible right now, imo.  They see where he lacks and want to see if he has enough of everything else to keep a challenging situation manageable. Can he pull everyone together and make plays to make them competitive.

If he's hesitant to make the structure throw Gutey has provided him a bunch of different athletic toolsets to go make something happen in the wing it style of extended gameplay. He's got a burner in Watson, a big fast TE in 88, a guy he's practiced with forever in 87, a guy in Reed who's shifty underneath. If he wants to go playground he's gotta figure out a way to connect with the other young guys and start making plays.  He's only got so much time to prove it.

I promise I want him to be successful, I just have major doubts with what he's hasn't shown so far.

Wondering your thoughts now after the last month?

Hot take during the Broncos game

Hot Take X2

It's a shocking turn around in a month. Something definitely changed at 1265 though.

Personally, still a long way to go but this last month shows he's the guy. He obviously has to sustain it now and keep consistent over a few seasons.

Getting into the playoffs for some experience this season would be so amazing.

Much better! The thing I liked the most is he's protecting the ball. Not all the throws are pretty, but they're not going to the other team, either. If he can keep that up they can be competitive for a long time. He's played his way out of the Packers even having an opportunity to consider a top QB in the draft.  I'm still a proponent of adding more talent to the QB room. Not as a challenge to Jordan (he's earned the starting job, the rest of the season determines the monetary parameters), but because you can never be deep enough at that position.

Sat down on Thanksgiving completely ready to watch my favorite team take a whooping and it ended up being one of the best games in recent team history. Sat down last night and thought at least we had that long break to enjoy the Lion win, and I was ready to take that delayed whooping.  By the 4th quarter I was fascinated to see if he'd get jumpy across from the current goat. Jo-Cool wasn't jumpy in the least.

NBC has loud field mics. He was barking commands and you could really hear his confidence emanating. Earlier in the season you could hear his confidence at the line fade when things weren't going well. His command at the line in adjusting protections was high level. I thought both his decision to pass on taking a lick vs the Lions and his decision to put his body at risk on the 4th 1 vs the Chiefs were smart situational football.

I absolutely hate the Love Shove. No reason another player can't line up under center and take the pile of humanity converging on him if they want to run that gimmick. Hurts is getting his energy bar diminished and is rapidly heading towards a shortened career. Drew Brees would still be playing if he could. Shoulders and elbows can get damaged in ways they don't recover. Protect the QB at all costs so you get as many years out of them as you can. Those injuries pile up. 10 is tall enough that he could emulate the Brady quick strike game for a long, long career. Hopefully this time around we keep surrounding the QB with quick twitch talent

Dumb shit I love that no one else probably cares about: No sleeves in the cold. It's a psychological flex. I don't expect it to continue when it gets crazy cold, but it's one of those stupid things that other players naturally respect. Projects tough or crazy. I use to hate when MM would be on the sidelines looking like a 6 year old who's mom bundled him up because she didn't want him to get cold waiting for the bus.

I think Love is showing well how he thinks the game. Looks to throw enough that he can surprise with the run. He's been good the last month. He's got lots of room to improve to become great.

One thing you can never take away from him is how much respect he has from the rest of the team. Naturally makes everyone better if they want to be better for him.  Pure speculation, but I think he's weighing in more with the coaches about what he likes and doesn't like.  He seems like a very respectful, do what the coaches ask, kind of player who might now be opening up. Relationships take time to develop.

In the NFL you can never be done getting better. I think it's crazy the press gazette declared him the next franchise QB. That's earned over seasons of production. 10's not there yet, imo. He's on one heck of an upswing right now, though.

Giants D coordinator Wink Martindale is another tough challenge next Monday.  He's seen everything and schemed against multiple HOFers. As bad as the Giants are he's going to give Love something he hasn't seen yet and have a unique approach with it.

Love can, now he has to prove he can continue.  The greatest QBs get forced to be good at what they're bad at. That's still coming for him. Our offense right now has the surprise element over all the defenses. Our staff knows the players capabilities and there's little tape for defenses to plan on as we implement new concepts. It's only natural they'll start to catch up.

My concern for Love remains his mechanics. Top ten QBs win Championships. 10-20th best break your heart over and over. MLF seems to want him to play with a lot of feel. I'll defer to that, but he's got to set platforms to reach the highest levels consistently. No matter how it turns out Love plays with a combination of creativity and looking for the kill shots that's going to be entertaining along the way and give us plenty to talk about.

All that said, I might be more impressed with MLF than anyone else in the organization right now. He's had the weight of everything on him for a long, long time.  Smack dab in the middle of the war between 12 and the front office. 12 backhand insults him by praising Saleh as an Alpha on the way out. Now he's coaching the least experienced offense in the history of the modern NFL without his best T or RB, kept the kids together through some ugly ugly games and called his shot when he said he thought they were close to the other side a few games ago. Now it looks like they are.

But his accuracy and mechanics.

Something has changed the last 3 weeks...dramatically.

I think MLF's playcalling has been much better, much simpler and much more to 10's strengths. I think he was trying to put too much out there, and it was complicating things for 10, for the OL and for the young WR/TE. MLF has always been a playcalling nerd...he throws the most complicated shit out there...and luckily with 12, he had a guy that had been around so long, he was able to figure out what worked, what wasn't going to work, and would change plays accordingly.

I think one of the big things is MLF has "given up" some things. He seems to be more willing to help the o-line, especially Walker. He seems to have given up on trusting Watson to track a pass with air under it, instead getting him the ball more directly. He seems to call runs more suited to Dillon's inside running strengths rather than wider ones that Jones does so well on. He seems to be running more depth mesh than wide mesh, simplifying reads.

If that was actual money she could invest, she might be able to afford 1/5 ownership of a franchise.

She could, however, own any or all of the CFL franchises!
