For all those who did not like Love’s 22 mil extension, Peter King had an interesting factoid.

“Aaron Rodgers’ salary-cap number for 2024, as it stands today, is $107,600,000. That is $22.1 million more than the NFL salary cap number per team in Rodgers’ rookie year, 2005.”

Green Bay Packers are the only NFL team that does not have a WR or TE with 1,000 total yards in receiving.   Watson leads all with 611 yards.

It's pretty crazy when you think about the inexperience but where is this offense going to be in 2024 and beyond? I'm expecting big things. I don't see any Malik Taylor or Juwann Winfree guys in the WR room.

Goaline, I think you need to come up with a different excuse.

BTW, I knew him in college and if he was 5' 9" I would be surprised.  When he told me us he was planning to go pro after school, I literally had a hard time keeping a straight face, but he had heart and I learned a lesson of never underestimating people from that interaction.

I can see the Air Quad growing together: Love, Doubs, Reed, and Watson, much less adding Musgrave and Kraft. I expect them to do well to start, have a slump in the middle as film gets around about tendencies and strengths and weaknesses, and then finish stronger as they come together and understand what it takes to win in the NFL. If all the rookies do that, I can see a 9-8 or maybe squeaking to a 10-7 record. I'd be pretty happy if that's how it played out.

Yeah, but he did start his high school football career in Botswana.😂

Set for life, congrats to Jordan Love

He already has $10M in career earnings before the extension

A breakdown of Jordan Love’s extension, per source:

Signing bonus: $8,788,765
2023 base salary: $1.01M
2023 escalators: Up to $9M (would be added to his 2024 base salary)
2024 salary: $5.5M (fully guaranteed)
2024 workout bonus: $500K

Not bad for a QB who hasn't proven squat yet.  But good for him.  Hopefully that looks like chump change compared to his next contract after he helps us win a SB and becomes the 3rd HOF QB in a row for us.

that will take great health on the team's part so they can grow, sync, and trust together.  injuries, the ol' derailer...   plus all these pups gotta get tougher and stronger.

anything over .500 will be success.  stay healthy and surprises may take place

Another awesome article from the Go Long publication. The Seahawks were so sick of Russell Wilson they almost traded him to the Bears.

Thus excerpt:

The truth wasn’t so magical. Wilson previously leaked a personal wish list of destinations: Chicago, Las Vegas or Dallas. And in private, the Seahawks faced a full-fledged identity crisis. They were far closer to trading Wilson to the Chicago Bears than anyone realized. Chicago was willing to part with anything shy of Khalil Mack. One source familiar with the trade negotiations told us that Schneider was growing tired of Wilson in the building. The GM was ready to move on. Carroll, on the other hand, couldn’t pull the trigger.
Fear won out. Fear of rebuilding at the age of 70 and fear of being The Coach Who Traded Russell Wilson. After all, the quarterback was fresh off a 40-touchdown season.
So, Wilson stayed one more season.
The Seahawks went 7-10. Another offseason decision beckoned.
The Denver Broncos were unable to reel in their prized possession — Green Bay’s Aaron Rodgers — so Schneider and Carroll, this time, pounced. Seattle dealt the face of its franchise to Denver for a treasure trove of picks.
Turns out, Life After Russell wasn’t dreary at all. On the contrary, Seattle made the playoffs in Year 1 and can now dream of something greater in Year 2.

We should have done this last year. The FO fucked up majorly. Jordan Love would be a year ahead right now, and the young receivers would be even further ahead after a year without being forced to sit behind Aaron’s substandard buddies. And the additional draft picks? Holy fuck!

Thats a dumb comment. I was asking that he be traded last year. Look it up. On this board I was far from the only one.

I can vouch for Goalline on this. I wasn't as strongly for trading him, but I felt it made no sense to trade Adams and keep Rodgers. You should either build for the future (with no experienced NFL WRs that were better than a #3 wideout on a good team) or keep them both and go all in. Instead, they went halfway and it cost them at least a year of being true contenders no matter how good Love turns out to be.

It made little sense.

The Adams trade probably made the Packers less likely to trade Rodgers. Coming off three consecutive 13 win seasons, Rodgers was the only hope of having a successful season minus Adams and with the FO still unconfident in Love.

I agree that the FO didn't have the confidence in Love to make any Rodgers trade until this year. And the guy responsible for Love's ascendance last year was no doubt Clements. Love just moved and looked like a different guy after a year with Clements. And it's just as big that Clements will be with the team again this year. Remember that under Clements, Kyler Murray had his best year in 2020 as well. Now, they have to hang on to Clements as the Jets will probably try to bag him next year.
