Based on the events of the day, Etienne would make less than zero sense for GB. Unless they can get him in R7.
Yeah, I could maybe see a RB on Day three, especially on a gadget/speed RB/Slot like Kenneth Gainwell from Memphis, Javian Hawkins from Louisville, Jermar Jefferson, Demetric Felton from UCLA.
They nabbed Patrick Taylor from Memphis last year and stashed him on the reserve list all season, as well. He's a guy with size, speed and versatility and they may plan on him taking Jamaal's spot this year.
Lafleur has mentioned his desire to have 4 quality RBs.

218. Jermar Jefferson RB Oregon State - He's still on the board so adding him seemed a no-brainer even if Dillon takes enough carries to keep Jones healthy.
255. Jamar Watson OLB Kentucky - Gadget pass rusher who can also cover and be a core special teamer.
I did this with the assumption the Packers will be good with their interior O-Line with Jenkins at Center (or maybe Hanson, I suppose). Mayfield went before the Packers' pick, so that temptation was gone. I wanted another D-lineman but there never seemed to be one I liked when the picks came up.
I like the Collins pick...totally on board with that. But 3 DB's in a row? Visions of Ron Wolf dancing through your head? 😆
They play a load of nickel and only have two safeties and one corner that are worth more than a warm bucket of spit. Add in that Savage has missed time each season and yes, three DBs who can likely play early could be a thing if they don’t bring in anyone from outside. They really need two “starters” at a minimum and someone worth a damn in case of injury.
Do you really want to see Kadar Holman and Henry Black playing major snaps? The Packers were pretty fortunate with Injuries last season, but there's a good argument Kevin King should have been at least the third CB in the Championship game. The cap is tight, especially with the Jones re-signing, and having money to bring in a decent veteran could be tight. Corner is deeper than D-line in the draft so it probably makes more sense to sign a lineman, depending on what happens.
Given that formula, and I like your take on it, I would say that relying on three rookies to fix that situation would be unwise. Veteran depth will have to be a part of the equation.
Draft a corner and a safety high...might happen. (rounds 1-4)

I think it's easier for a rookie to have an immediate impact as a DL than as a CB. Run-stuffing skills don't change much from college and speed rushers can still stress a defense even as they develop some countermoves.
DB play is a lot more complex in terms of recognizing route combinations, etc.
I'd like them to sign a mid-level veteran CB to provide stability (a Breeland type) and then go heavy on defense in the draft (especially ILB and DL). Most elite pass rushers don't get to the free agency and those that do are risks. Clowney is the type of boom or bust free agent that could make a difference if you could get him for 6-7 million. However, I would guess someone will overpay him.
If you look at Packers cornerbacks over the years most of them stepped in right away and either excelled or flamed out.
Newsome, McKenzie, Jaire, Sharper, Hayward, were all pretty decent from the get go. Doug Evans and Sam Shields were more projects. Rollins, Jue, Josh Jackson, Antuan Edwards, Joey Thomas, Ahmad Carroll pretty much sucked from the beginning.
Jeeeee...ZUS!!! 6'4" 235lbs and runs that? I wanted the Packers to nab him in R5 and convert him to a TE...dude may well be a Day 1 pick after this...

If you are an NFL GM in that range, needing a franchise QB, there is a good chance at reaching for a bust pick for any QB not named Trevor Lawrence.

Jalen Phillips OLB Miami - Another freakish athlete, but his injury history scares the crap out of me.
Tyson Campbell CB Georgia - Georgia runs a LOT of zone, not sure I like him.
Kadarious Toney - Smaller than they seem to go for and more of a lot/gadget guy right now, but guy can move.
Treven Moehrig - Seems a straight up Free Safety
Terrance Marshall JR - Seems more like a receiver the Packers like with better size and a good prospect all-around
I still take Collins, with Rosseau being the second choice. I'd rather they trade down than take Campbell and probably Moehrig. Hopefully someone would want to come up for a fifth-year option on Mac Jones

The NFL draft would be so much more predictable if all the teams would just stick with "the script". But teams feel the need to ad lib a lot.
Some ad lib by not getting their picks in in time.
That is one way, but there is usually one or two teams that make really "off the wall" picks that could make them candidates for the Darwin Awards. Not that I am advocating for that - it has worked well for GB in the NFC North.
