Why just Eddie?  Why not the whole team? Why not all the OL in the NFL?  It could become viral or infectious or whatever techy term you nerds use.

Guess we know now which reporter pissed off TJ Lang by calling a player's parents (posted originally in the Rodgers & Munn thread).

Eddie Lacy has worked his ass off for his family. Struggling through **** Michael Cohen couldn't possibly ****ing imagine.

Cohen graduated in 2013 with a degree from Syracuse. Im guessing he got the post on recommendation from Ty Dunne.

He's a pilthy bitch that hasn't earned the fussiest ball hair to question anyone.

If Eddie punched that little **** right in the wind hole I'd think nothing of it.

Now TJ. Clear a hole for Eddie and lets all move on.

Quite a few human interest stories done on Eddie in the past and apparently they're only an issue when the team is struggling. Didn't find the piece particularly interesting but other than that I don't have any real problem with it.

Sure appears to me as if some fans and players are directing their frustration at the Packers' struggles at a convenient and favorite target, the media.

I agree.

The article was neither interesting nor illuminating. It only reinforced the notion that Lacy has really, really struggled this year.

Furthermore, while I like Eddie Lacy, to go from being featured on a national TV commercial at the beginning of the season to a backup RB halfway through that season certainly would seem to invite scrutiny as to what has gone wrong.

Also, I think McGinn recently referred to the generally BENIGN Wisconsin press corps that covers the Packers. I agree with that take as well.

Given last year's NFC Championship meltdown and the current losing streak by a team that was supposed to be the leading contender to represent the NFC in the Super Bowl, I think the Packers' organization ought to be thankful they do not play in a major media market, because the criticism would be much more intense than what they face from a bunch of mostly fawning journalists who are extremely reluctant to criticize the players, coaches, management, or organization.

Well Eddie looks to be officially in the RB doghouse. Rumors that he was late to a meeting seem to confirm the man has a motivation problem.  Hope he figures it out soon...we could use him in December...otherwise sure seems like Davey Crockett looks motivated

I wonder if Lacy is one of the guys who is playing video games too much.

This is from an article last year, but it's illuminating based on what is being said recently.

From the article published last December:

"Lacy has the same routine every day during the season. He'll typically get home from work around 4 p.m., and then take a nap until 6 or 6:30 p.m. That's when he watches an episode of the 1990s sitcom "Martin" and follows it up by playing video games -- Grand Theft Auto and Call of Duty, among others -- before shutting that down in time to watch an episode of "Family Guy" at 10 p.m."

Some type of "issue" this week is being talked about and McCarthy said "Eddie did not have a good week" - or something like that.

Did he and Harris get into in the LR? Did Eddie tell a coach or another player (Rodgers) to f*** off in response to preparation? Especially if he was late/missed a meeting.

Fat or not they could use his hard running style these next 4 games.

I read something about Lacy that had me curious at the time and makes me wonder if he's just not wired to be a great football player.  I'm summarizing, but someone asked him if he watched a recent football game and he responded that he didn't, that he's not a football fan.  We all assume these guys live and breath football and love every second of it.  But some of them just happen to be really good at football and since playing in the NFL is so lucrative, they do it.  I'm a CPA and I don't love it but I know it's a lucrative field and it beats anything else i could do, so I do it.  Maybe football is just a job for Lacy and it's finally catching up to him.

It appears that the staff is not happy with him based on: 1) Regardless of what they sat publicly, the Packers can not be happy with a 25+ weight gain since they drafted him 2) On his fumble last week & near dropping of the ball before crossing goal line, MM appeared frustrated that they ball security drills everyday &Eddie did not seem to internalize the teaching of the drill 3) Some speculation that he was late or missed a meeting this week. As I stated when he was drafted, he gives 100% on the field, but has a lot of red flags as far as having the self-discipline in preparation.

And staying out late with 'Zo, evidently.

GREEN BAY, Wis. -- Packers running backs Eddie Lacy and Alonzo Harris both missed curfew Wednesday night in Detroit, according to two NFL sources.

The Packers demoted Lacy for Thursday night's game against the Lions and cut Harris only hours before kickoff.

Despite coming off his best two games of the season, Lacy played behind starter James Starks against the Lions, seeing only 19 snaps and not touching the ball after he lost 3 yards on a second-quarter pass. Rookie John Crockett, who was promoted from the practice squad to take Harris' spot, got the call in the second half over Lacy, who finished with only 1 total yard of offense.

After the game, Lacy would not comment on the reason for his demotion.

"I don't feel as though that's something I should get into yet," he said.

On Friday, Packers coach Mike McCarthy called it "an internal football decision that was made. That's what resulted in Eddie's reps." When asked whether it was a disciplinary move, McCarthy added: "Could be. But those things we don't discuss in here anyway. It's something that we handled internally, and that was the outcome."

I doubt he's gained 25+ lbs since his rookie year.

He weighed 200 coming out of high school. He was 230 at the combine. A lot of speculation that he is now between 255-260. Even if he is only 245, not a good trend for a RB.

If he's not that into football, and his motivation appears to have taken a hit judging by his weight, then sit his butt down until he either hits the playbook and loses weight or until he's cut next year. Maybe TT could trade him for that Joe Thomas guy.

Seriously, Crockett ran through holes with some juice and showed some wiggle. If AR can trust him, let him play.

Wasn't that his concern coming out of college? IIRC it was his ability to keep the weight off and to keep him focused and interested in football at a high level in the NFL.

Just posted this quote from MM on another thread: "It just puts a smile on my face when I think of Crockett," McCarthy said. "You come off the field here at Lambeau, he’s the first guy in the tunnel, greets the team. He’s got unbelievable energy. He puts a lot of time in. He’s got his nose in his playbook, the way it should be.

"So there’s just a lot there that’s been going on for really since training camp. That decision could’ve went either way, in my opinion, between Alonzo and Crockett. It was time to give the young man an opportunity."

Lot of thing unsaid in there that are obvious...

One thing to add as well. MM may be a lot of things but IMO unfair isn't one of them. I don't remember what week it was but there was a week where Lacy was a full participant in practice ALL week. Then out of nowhere, he's deactivated that Sunday and when players were asked, most appeared very surprised he was.

Couple that with this incident, I can't help but wonder if there is a pattern here and MM has reached the end of his patience.
