The contract in WI had to be more to equal what the Raiders were paying since the state takes 7-some-odd percent, and Nevada has no income tax.

Maybe he just wanted to get closer to family, warmer climate, play with his BFF, play for his childhood team...myriad of reasons...the only one that matters is he's gone, we saved a fuck-ton of money from the our already strapped cap-position, and we get two fucking premium draft picks to build for the future.

I am not looking at 2022-23 as the year we must win the Super Bowl but maybe you get the pieces in place so that in 2023-24 an 2024-25 you are really fucking good because you drafted a top 5 NFL WR, and a top 5 NFL TE, and have extended all you key pieces like Jaire, Campbell, Amos, etc.

And maybe Davante never sees the playoffs again because you are in the toughest league in the NFL with Chargers, Broncos and Chefs.

Quite honestly, I am relieved it turned out this way. Tae is a great kid, great human being...if this is what makes him happy, it's what he deserves to happen. And the Packers got a great deal. Total win-win IMO.

I got no issues with Tae getting his money. This is by far his last hurrah at a huge contract. Go that $$ which he did.

But talk to any good business owner and they will tell the last thing you want is a key member of your workforce not wanting to be on your team. Most of us on this board have experienced that in our lives and it can get very ugly.

Even looking back as recently as the KC game with Jordan Love, Adams body language sucked that game and he looked like a dude who just didn't want to be there.

And let's also be real. His energy in the 2020 NFC championship game where he had a key drop in the EZ and then this past playoff game at Lambeau vs the 49ers to me left a lot to be desired. He just wasn't the All-Pro who elevated his game and came in with the mindset of "no way were losing this game".

I think it may be revealed Adams had wanted out for awhile now..

Final thought (for now) on the Davante Adams trade: His agents Frank Bauer and Kenny Chapman confirm that the #Packers offered more money than the contract he’ll sign in Las Vegas. Simply, it was his lifelong dream to be with the #Raiders.

Yeah, those performances compared to what Cooper Kupp did in the playoffs this year was quite a contrast.

Heard this on Bill Simmons this morning.  Adams gets a big payday, one that it appears he could have received in GB.  In GB he was targeted 169 times last year, 149 the year before, why, because he was basically the only target. In Vegas Carr has Renfoe and Waller who are pretty good and reliable thus Adams will be able to reduce his workload, extend his career and still be a big cog in the team.  For a soon to be 30 year old this may have played into his decision.

That’s bullshit. 17 wants targets.

The Packers have had 8 WRs make the Pro Bowl since free agency started.

Freeman, Javon Walker, Jordy Nelson, Randall Cobb, Adams, Driver, Jennings, Sharpe.

6 left Green Bay for big money elsewhere either by trade or free agency (Driver stayed and Sharpe got injured before he could force his way out).

Everyone of the first 5 was signed to a contract the new team eventually regretted or at least moved on from very quickly. In many cases, two teams regretted signing these guys for big money. Walker-Broncos/Raiders; Nelson-Raiders; Cobb-Cowboys/Texans; Jennings-Vikings/Dolphins; Freeman-Eagles.

The common themes were these guys were all at least 28 when they moved on and they went from Favre/Rodgers to other QBs.

I think Adams is the second best of all these guys (behind Sterling Sharpe). He's likely to look really good for the next 1-2 years and then decline.

I wish the Packers had more time to assemble a roster. Because right now, it's definitely lacking in a few areas.

In other news, I know it's not April yet, but are the Vikings still a SB favorite?

I'd take their WRs over Green Bay's in a heartbeat, but they have one more year before Justin Jefferson is going to want 30 million a year.

That's the think lurking after Adams got this money. Chase, Jefferson, Kupp, etc. are all going to want 30 million a year when they come up for their extensions.

I don't know how this is going to be sustainable. Rodgers got 50 million a year. When Burrow, etc. come up for their extensions, they'll push for 55 million and the star WRs are going to push for 35 million. Are teams really going to use 90 million of cap space on QB-WR duos like Burrow-Chase?

And now I read where Adams bought a house right next door to Carr. Next door neighbors...how sweet. Why stop there, just move in with Carr and share a pillow.

FUCK DAVANTE ADAMS!!! There, I said it. These days I don't root for people, I root for whoever is wearing the jersey that I root for.

Back in the day the players stayed with your team and you'd know they'd be there next year. Now players move all over and the guy you hated last year is the guy you're rooting for this year because he's wearing our jersey.

So I don't wish Adams good luck going forward, I hope he's the biggest bust in NFL history. Fuck him. He didn't want to play here...see ya!!! It was his choice, not anyone else's.

Underwhelmed in playoff games against good defenses, just like 12. The last big playoff offensive game by a player against a legit defense was the much maligned MVS.

Losing Adam’s hurts, but that pain does not justify horrible takes

I think where my head is at anyway, was after the 2021 season it seemed there were two strategies.  Either trade AR or go all in.  Well, we didn’t trade AR, and our WR - the only good one on our team - is gone.  I know he didn’t want to play for us, and at least we’re getting some decent compensation in return, but all that’s left in terms of FA WR’s are.#2’s.  Could we have done something about that like going after Robinson?  I don’t know of we had enough time or if he even wanted to play here.  Even if we draft a potential superstar this year at WR, it’s going to take at least a year to develop into a #1.  I don’t know, it is what it is I guess.  And I agree with others, maybe it will be better without having DA as a crutch.  But our receiving corps has definitely been downgraded without a perceivable way to improve it to the level having DA did.  I think we need to draft receivers and edge rusher in the first round, or use one of the 1st round picks as a trade for the #2’s that are left.  The disappointing piece is that with DA still on the team, the all in approach was feasible.  Now, I’m not sure we’re a SB caliber team and we’re paying AR gobs of money to throw to who?

They need to stop negotiating with sensitive players and just lean to so say,

"How much, sir"?

"Here it is".

If Jaire wants 80 mi a year they better pay it immediately or they are tone deaf.

Or they could actually learn to manage their players a bit better and find a happy medium without having to have the face of the franchise call them out on it before making any changes.....

I feel much the same. I assumed if we were all in that 12 and 17 would both be there. We had talent issues before DA left at the position and now we have no #1 or #2 receivers and this FO hasn't exactly excelled at drafting pass catchers.

Loss of Adams leaves a significant hole, but there's enough offensive pieces in place that MLF will be able to make it work. Combine that with a defense that could very well be one the better units in the league and mix in improved special teams and the Packers will be right there with the best teams in the conference and league.

Bottom line to me is most of the hand-wringing I'm seeing over the loss of Adams strikes me as excessive.

He's arguably the best receiver in football and we have no one that is even a legit #2 behind him and our only receiving threat as a TE is coming off of ACL surgery and is also a free agent. I think if there was any depth at all here that there would be much less hand wringing. Not to say all is lost by any means but we need about 3 WR and at least 1 more TE.

This defense, if Douglas is signed, and we can get an elite defensive lineman, Jordan Davis, Wyatt.... This defense will be elite
