Wisconsin probably taxes you four times over
Have you been to Winnemucca Mac?

Well, ya! You are old. Davante is young and rich. Heβll choose Vegas.

Look no further than the Browns signing that turd Watson. 100% heβs guilty even if he was indicted. Or AD, or Vick, or any one of the tens of NFL players who are pieces of shit. Itβs all about winning. The owners are business people, and winning makes more money. The players are commodities and they know that.
I donβt blame Adams at all either, he got what the market was willing to pay AND got to go somewhere heβll enjoy living more. He did a great job for us and earned his opportunity. Sorry to see him go, but good luck to him.
@BrainDed posted:Actually, it is exactly that. I pay zero state income tax.
He will only pay state income on away game checks.
FWIW - Clark County Nevada sales tax = 8.38%; Brown County Wisconsin sales tax = 5.5%. Tad bit impactful for high-spending folks like NFL players.

Never mind.
I guess with all the thumbs down, there are a lot of davante lovers here. This isn't a racial thing. Just my opinion on overpaid athletes who don't give a fuck about anyone but themselves.
And a lot of people worship them and think it's OK

They don't have to buy local.
Many other options.
Clark county is about 3x population as the rest of Nevada put together. I could absolutely be wrong, but I wouldn't expect he and his family would go out of their way to buy gas, eat out, etc to avoid paying sales taxes.

There is a middle ground. No worship here, but we all know itβs a business, and he is looking out for himself, whatever that entails. I have no particular issue with it.
He's selfish for working hard, getting paid well, and going to a new team?
Workers unite!

Which is still half, and at that salary a lot of guys are doing some serious sheltering too. If he does local TV ads for JimBobβs Used Car Lot or Freddyβs Bimbotown Brothel, sure.

Iβve been everywhere, man.
The NFL is a cutthroat business. Everyone screws each other over. There is no loyalty. Ethics be damned as well.
Itβs all about winning and making money but if push comes to shove making money is more important.
I stopped being outraged and pissed off a long time ago. And you know what? My interest in both the NFL and the Packers isnβt what it used to be due to the fact that greed and self interest has hijacked the sport.
It is what it is.
I also know that it just might be possible that Green Bay Wisconsin isnβt exactly a destination for a lot of players and their families?

Get a clue. I said to fire Paul Chryst.
It bothers me and I grew up in the African heat.
Humidity or lack of?
Lived in humid Thailand twice. Hated humidity in WI.
AZ is just right for me.

If it is true that the Packers offered more than the contract he signed with Raiders then he did NOT maximize his earning potential.

It all depends on how much was guaranteed. Adams got 66 million guaranteed by Las Vegas.
Adams' contract is really 3 years and 68 million. In the 4th year, he is due for 36 million and has only a 7 million dead cap hit. There's no way he plays for that.

They offered him comparable dollars who cares? Itβs Vegas v Green Bay. Lower taxes and the Strip versus freeze your nuts off half the year and Kwik Trip.
I love WI from June-October but the rest of the time not so much.
People that diss the SW either have never been there or are just the typical provincial Sconnie types.

The more I think about this trade, the more it sucks. You just don't find talent like Davante very often and it is really unfortunate that he left during a year when we were supposedly "all in". The likelihood of those 2 draft picks having anywhere near the impact as DA are slim to none.
I keep waiting to see headlines that we have signed someone. It sounds like we have known for a while that this was going to happen so it seems odd that they haven't signed anyone yet (WIll Fuller, Jarvis Landry, etc...)
Since when does Gutey do things you expect? In my experience, he tends to do things people least expect such as bringing in the Smith Bros and Amos in the same year.
My guess is heβs going to sign MVS and then draft a WR and roll with the corps we have.

Now do property tax. Where the real money is spent.
Think this was much more about reuniting with his college friend and teammate than tax rates. People for whom taxes are an ideological hobbyhorse tend to frequently overstate their significance.

I guess he didn't pay over $1M in sales taxes on his new mansion. My bad.

Good point. Gute certainly is not predictable. I'm hoping we pick up at least 2 vets in addition to adding through the draft. Not sure what's out there for FA TE's.
Adams is a great receiver. I've never seen anybody get open like that guy. He'll be pretty good in Las Vegas.
But still, I was elated with this trade...Bill articulates those reasons so much better than I can.

I would feel a lot better about it if we had better options at WR and TE. As it stands, the team just got a lot worse. No doubt that signing a guy to that level of a contract at his age is risky as well.
