I also distinctly remember thinking MLF looked a little too excited when they picked Love.

Exactly.  IMO, Frenchie's reaction on the pick was over the top and likely vaulted AR12s angst about the pick into hyperdrive.

EXACTLY! That and stuff like this https://dailycaller.com/2020/0...k-green-bay-packers/    must have really irked AR ...."hey, Matt...you wanted to replace me? ...you thought you  could get a guy who would just love everything about your offense and tell you it is pure genius .... you wanted to spend the draft on a QB, back up RB and blocking TE?....hey Matt.... Fuck You"

The “Packers didn’t handle their superstar player” narrative is a cop out. Anyone think TT was good at polishing Rodgers’ dick? They were together for a decade. Rodgers was happy because he respected Ted and Ted showed him the money. Murphy and Ball have been around for a decade also, if all of them were so shitty at appeasing Rodgers ego then why did the guy sign TWO more contracts to stay? If you fall into the media trap of “Rodgers has been disrespected, it’s not about money” then you’re a sucker. It’s about fucking money and it’s about guarantees.

I don’t think GB, Rodgers, or extended entities are behind as much of this media coverage as we realize. Everyone ON RECORD is basically saying it will get worked out while it’s exclusively ANONYMOUS sources saying it’s a mess.

You mean Adam Schefter isn’t a reliable source?  Or the rest of the so called media “insiders?”  You don’t say!

Unless I missed it, I don’t think Rodgers has actually made any statements directly to the media.  If he were that unhappy, wouldn’t he say something?

Who knows.  I just want this to be done and over with.

Rodgers is no dumdum.  He's an intelligent and calculated human being.  He's also a gigantic pussy.  He's not living in a vacuum where he is oblivious to this mess.  Rather than making a statement, any statement, he's using his pals like Jordy, Jones, etc. and the media to speak on his behalf like he is some sort of an aggrieved victim.

Rodgers is no different than any other professional athlete out there.  They can talk about championships all they want, but it really only comes down to one thing.  Themselves.  Rodgers wants money and the personal accolades that go with being a great player.  If you happen to win a championship along the way of fame and fortune, cool.

Obviously, this will end in one of two ways.  Rodgers will be traded for some draft picks and maybe a player or two after June 1st or he will agree to a new contract that guarantees him more money for more years.  If the latter occurs, and I think it probably will, Rodgers will give some song and dance in the media about all he wants to do is win, etc.  Bullshit.  He wants his... and he's too big of a pussy to talk about it.

Disagree.

Root beer floats.

3 people who are are actually close to Rodgers have gone on record as having directly spoken with him and don’t paint a negative picture…Kuhn, Hawk, and James Jones all likely had permission from Rodgers to speak for him. I consider those guys word as his “statement”. Their message is that they’re optimistic something will get worked out which is the same message from GBP.

Gee, you don't think money and guarantees/security are part and parcel of a thing called a "contract".  Nutty.

Now here's the really wild thing.  Maybe TT didn't treat Rodgers like a two bit player at a critical time in his career?  Oh wait, nobody in their right fucking mind would've thought about replacing Rodgers in the middle of his meteoric career so I guess your little assertion doesn't really hold water.  Apples and root beer floats.

See, it's about what's happening right now.  It's what's happening around a catalyst of a new GM and fucked up FO restructure with mantras like "sick of the diva crap" and "shut up and play" and "don't be the problem" and my favorite "maybe kinda".

This wouldn't have happened when TT was around because the structure wasn't there for Sled Hill Murphy to get involved.  In fact, we absolutely know he didn't do anything because he was so fucking clueless to TT and McVInce heading downhill.

So try again but this time with context.

Rodgers also spent basically all of the season speaking weekly on the Pat McAfee Show. Lot of dumb discussion, but be peppered in bits of information throughout the year that more/less add up to a statement. He’s unhappy or at least uncomfortable with the lack of control over his fate, he wants to play into his 40’s, he wants to retire a Packer, he was surprised and seemingly annoyed with the Love pick, and his strong 2020 season threw off timelines for the team. That plus his contract structure all pretty much adds up to: the team was planning to move on after ‘21, he doesn’t want that, the team doesn’t want to do that anymore because of how he’s playing, but if he’s going to stay here he wants more control of his fate. Everything is reasonable on all fronts.

Right so you prefer the idea that GBP is a reality TV show with tons of manufactured drama versus just reality. None of that is verified or confirmed, it’s all anonymously sourced. If you want it to be all an episodes of Kardashians I guess that’s fine, we have the perfect LT for that cast.

Yeah, that's what my post says.

Let me ask you something, I can't think of many times in sports journalism where anybody goes "on the record" in these types of situations.

Rodgers:  "I think the front office is a bunch of morons and I want to leave".

FO:  "We're sick of Rodgers bullshit"

Let me know how many times we've seen that kind of coverage.

Let me strip this all down again.

How did it come to this point and who is in charge of managing this team?

BTW, the link @FLPACKER posted about drafting Love, McGinn "had the feeling" they drafted Love to send a message. If McGinn's "feeling" is correct then just add another example to the stack of dumbfuckery from this FO.

You know all the narratives here and around the sports world get crafted through all this back channel shit right?  This is what fans parse through, not accurate reporting.

Summary:  The FO gambled to "send a message" and lost.

You want that to be true because it’s more interesting. If McGinn has a feeling about something it’s probably more likely it’s just made up.

I don't suppose you see the metric ton of irony in this statement.

BTW, McGinn, a guy that covered the Packers for decades and was probably the last semi-real journalist the team dealt with outside the cadre of half ass bootlickers, has less credibility than Schefter or click schmucks like Nagler, Dunne and Pete Buttafuoco?

It’s McGinn’s opinion about Love, just like it’s Schefter’s opinion about Rodgers. His opinion is not a fact and his years of reporting don’t make him a mind reader. Does he even have media credentials with GBP anymore?

McGinn's theory strikes me as beyond absurd. AR's position of wanting security and some control over the timeline of being replaced is no more reasonable than the team wanting maximum flexibility at the QB position in dealing with their first round pick. Both sides just need to find an acceptable middle ground and If they can't find one the team needs to trade AR for maximum compensation.

I have zero issues with Gute drafting Love. He’s running a business and succession planning is certainly a part of that. Whenever 12 departs or cannot play to his expected level, let’s hope the plan put into place works.

I’m willing to wait and see.
