Myers is built like a tackle yet plays center. Sometimes itβs not all about ideal size.
Well, Myers is not an ideal center. Gute fucked up when he took this guy over Creed Humphreyβ¦IMO.
Typical Gute. He just took the bigger guy. At a position where height can be a liability. Ugh!
C is another position the Packers typically don't invest much capital in, but they seem to find guys who are solid, if not over-achievers.
Myers is the highest round pick since the immortal Mark Jason Spitz (3rd round 2006).
And another10 years before that (Mike Flanagan 1996 also 3rd round).
Tretter and Linsley were 4th and 5th round picks, respectively.
Other than Spitz, they got players who were above average, but not Pro Bowl-level. Myers may not be a ideal C, but he won't be the cause of a loss.
I think you mean Jason Spitz. Mark was more of a pool man....
Thanks, EC!
I couldn't get the image of Henry's avatar out of my head, and it clearly affected my thinking.

Not a shocker you are a Creed fan
IMO JMO IMHO
Nickleback went undrafted.
Of course I am the guy that said when Bak was young that he was only a guard
Bit of a tangent, think there might be something of a legacy transition?
What I mean is that some teams just seem to have a good run of players at one position. Maybe it's coaching, maybe it's players that get to watch players that are good go about their business and the emulate that?
Of course the reverse could be true as well I imagine.
Does the above mean that Jordan Love will be a Hall Of Famer?
Jenkins played center too. Yet I still think he is more valuable as guard.
I have seen Myers move well for his size. I watched him, often, get downfield quickly and block linebackers effectively.

One can only hope! π
I'd drink to that.

I think the more important overall question is who is going to represent him in his life movie after the trophies get won and the stadium lights go out on his storied career? We could ask the same about Rodgers but the only plausible answer for him is Matthew Lillard.

Damien Lillard to play Love?
Gurt picked up the 5th year option on Savage, so clearly, he's not prone from making such mistakes. But I am going to trust my own eyes, and outside of a span of playing OT this year where he looked like a fish out of water, EG has been a beast since day 1 in the NFL.
There are worse risks to take IMO.
