Yup.. That's what made this his best game as a Packer. He was attacking and snatching the ball. If he can keep that up, the sky is the limit.
He did look like 2 yesterday. Gotta be consistent.
As soon as he can get familiar with the offense, Austin looks like he can be at least as effective as Irvin was in that role. If not more so.
Yeah, Austin is really slippery. He's like a young Cobb with his quickness.

Go back and look at his college highlights (pg 1) and every comfortable catch is away from the body where he attacks the ball. When he catches it in the body it seems everyone has movement.
I have a really hard time understanding how a 3rd year professional receiver hasn't learned how to catch away from his body.
You mean a 5th round pick that has all the attributes of a 1st rounder except for his catching ability?
You'd have to ask Mrs. Lincoln.
She's getting popcorn and some jujubes
My God what a bunch of know-it-all bitches.
Has the possibility that the coaches who work with the guy every day know more than you do even crossed your mind for a split second? Just entered your stream of consciousness at all, ever, even once?
They said he had a great camp, he just needed to stay consistent and translate it to games. It looks like he’s done that. MLF said he had confidence in him for a reason. Maybe listen to the people who know and have some faith now and again? The guy has freaking talent.
Or maybe a little patience? It took Terrell Owens 3 years to hit the bigs.
“Hasn’t learned to catch away from his body”, “First round talent except for his catching ability.” Laugh my fricken ass all the way off. You guys just know everything hey.
Until it becomes obvious you don’t. Like it did yesterday.
I'm an unapologetic MVS fan.

Fifth rounder who beat out another guy who couldn't catch.
One game isn't consistency.
It’s okay to say he has issues catching the ball, because he does. It’s not a new problem, he’s struggled with consistency his whole career thus far. Is that unusual for a receiver transitioning to the NFL? No. It doesn’t mean people are wrong for pointing it out or being skeptical of future success.
BUT this kid has powered through ups and downs and appears to be very mentally tough. His teammates love him, everyone from the HC to QB1 to WR1 consistently have his back. It’s hard to bet against him honestly considering these factors + his immense physical skill.
I love him....this week
"They said he had a great camp, he just needed to stay consistent and translate it to games."
Unlike that time the coaches said that one player had a horrible camp.
"MLF said he had confidence in him"
Right, unlike when he said he had no confidence in that other kid.
Get off your horse, your rebuttal is lame. What the fuck do you think the coaches are going to say? Using coach speak as your supporting arguments is lazy.

If he can truly put it altogether with all his physical attributes it'll be worth the 4 year wait.
I'm not optimistic.
Maybe this team dynamic keeping him encouraged may pay off. There's some quality people in the locker room starting with Mayo.
Maybe he's Corey Bradford.

After he goes 6 for 6 for 85 yards and TD, and the TD is on a truly spectacular catch, yes it kind of is in my opinion.
The timing of those posts after a game like yesterday is horse shit. As is the content. And it's okay for me to point that out, too.
"Great game, but you still suck." (Or can't catch, or haven't "learned" how.)
Awesome. On a Packer fan forum no less, that MVS or his family could read.
"Just pointing things out." Give me a break. Packer fans have had their torches and pitchforks out after MVS for 2 years now, and he knows it. And it culminates in death threats. Wonderful. Packer fans have this rep for being so great. I'm not seeing it.
Yeah, we're really great fans, we just rip him no matter what he does.
Screw that.
Yeah just "pointing out" that he can't catch. After he catches every ball thrown his way.
Just pointing out--like experts in the study of football--that he doesn't use his hands to catch the ball. Except for those 6 times in a row yesterday.
Laughable.
This is fun. Just like real life.
It could be you're too invested after I put a bug up your ass last year.
I've changed my mind
The difference between 12 million and 10 million is two million because of MVS
I've liked what I've seen the last two games. When he's not the target he seems to take pride and bring high energy into doing everything else, looks like he wants to block. Keep bringing it, young one. Put it all together and meellions await you.
and all yous fuggers better count your dressings for how freakin' fuggin' blessed we are to have the GBP. Harlan, Wolf, Favre, Holmgren ... Ted/Gute, Rodgers, LaFleur (with a sprinkle of MM years). it ain't ne'er easy but it all starts at the top and we've been able to enjoy a helluva lot of awesome football from the combined top for a long time. LaFleur's as real as they come. How much longer is his contract? Tradition, train kept a-rollin', roll on buddy!

Sure, it's possible they may have lied about their confidence in him, just to boost him up.
Or they may have--you know, just throwing this wild-haired idea out there--actually had confidence in him, which the evidence yesterday showed was with good reason. And which was why he started the game.
Just boosting him up, huh? Ya think that might explain why he started the game and got 8 targets? Let's analyze this!

You? The guy who is on record this year saying MVS and Lazard are quote, "dog shit," during a Super Bowl caliber year with the number one offense in the League!
Thanks for bringing yourself up, Hank! Smell that? That's you! Kind of ironic you used those words, with you're nose rubbed right in it and all.
Did you see those WR groupings yesterday? MLF had Davante, MVS and Lazard lined up together in a group. I mean, to me, that was pretty fricken scary-looking if you're a defensive coordinator. Throw in Tonyan and WTF do you do? Seriously.
And guess who's the fastest one of that bunch, who has caught multiple bombs for touchdowns this year? MVS. You think DC's aren't respecting that? Think again.
Tell us again they are all dog shit except Adams. Can't wait, let's hear it. You're right, this is fun.
To be clear, I like MVS and I think he does have a bright future. People get heated when he drops the ball, which is has done this season in crucial moments, and call him out. Nothing wrong with that. He has 3 drops on the season, same as Lazard, but the expectations for him were sky high in year 3...I think people were hoping he would be 2019 Davante and he’s been more like Year 2 Davante battling through injuries and inconsistency. He had a great game, no one here disagrees, no one is rooting against him and certainly no one here (hopefully?) made death threats because that’s insane.

Frothy even.
You're wrong about Lazard. Lazard was hurt and the rest were playing like shit. Fact. Lazard was never in the dog shit equation but keep it frothy.
Your logical fallacies are adorable trying to pin a "championship year" to the greatness that is MVS. Fucking goofball. Yes, "scary". That's why opposing DCs double and triple team Adams because MVS is so scary.
MVS has yet to prove he's consistent. Fact. It's that simple. You drop the ball all over the place to the point of where you're not even being targeted for multiple games, there's a problem with consistency. Fact.
It is hilarious how wound up you are about an inconsistent WR (I mean I know why after spanking you with "#1 in separation"). I look forward to your take on Ty Summers and Tyler Lancaster being the key to a Super Bowl.

Do you want to analyze his entire career or just one game? Rhetorical.
I'm pretty sure Liquor Man watches the Packers waiting for the one in every four games MVS actually catches the ball like NFL WR are supposed to do just to scamper here proclaiming his greatness.
Terrell Owens. Okay.
As multiple people here have said, if Hester Layes turns into an Alvin Harper type WR the rest is gravy.
@Henry posted:Do you want to analyze his entire career or just one game? Rhetorical.
Great point: When a young receiver is progressing and has a good game, the best thing to do is focus on his past mistakes. That way you can appear to be right.
That's the important thing here: you.
I mean, you're one of the ones bitching about him the day after a good game. Sorry for interrupting, do go on, I'm learning so much. Those 3 drops this year should have been catches, right? I'll catch up I swear.
As long as he is better than this Alvin

Now we're making progress. Let it out even if you have to project. Last year was tough for you. So much so you've placed your entire fandom on one WR.

You still don't get it. It's never about one player, it's about the team.
Do you really, really want to keep bringing up last year? You were convinced beyond anyone saying otherwise that all the offense's problems were about the WRs behind Adams, when the whole offense was trying to get on board with a new offense and struggled (at times). You were convinced and obsessed with the WR position the whole season, complaining non-freaking-stop! Yes it sucked to read ad nauseum. And it was in fact ad nauseum. Who wants to read constant complaining, about anything, ever, especially during a 13-3 season?
Well you know who disagreed with you? All the offensive coaches, the Head Coach and the GM. You know who didn't draft or trade for a big name WR? Same. You know who obviously thought the WR position was fine? Same. You know who it turns out had every reason to think that? Those same freaking guys, who do this for a living and who are 24-6 with the best offensive team in the NFL.
The truth was, the offensive core was there and still is, and is now a well-oiled machine.
And you know who was wrong? You. And you know who won't admit it? You.
To the point that, when those very guys play well, you still sit there and shit-talk them, for no good reason other than that's what you've become.
So yeah, I see that, and even though I don't post much anymore, I have to call you on it. Get over yourself and be happy for the man. For the fuck of Christ, be happy for the team.
So yeah, call it "scampering," call it not wanting to read constant bitching during what should be celebrating, call it whatever the hell you want. No one wants to read that kind of bullshit under these circumstances. You're irrelevant and you're wrong, and most of all, you suck all the fun out of this historic run we're on.
Seriously, get on board with the WR's we have or STFU already. It's past old and it makes no sense when as a group, they are playing excellent football despite a couple of drops.
And it especially makes no sense to rip a guy after a great game. Get over yourself or fuck off.
The end.
// Cue Henry turning this into me scampering and him somehow winning. Whee!! //

Not quite true with this. They did sign Funchess who opted out. So it is apparent that the coaches and GM were not happy with the WR room as it was. If Funchess had stayed active nobody knows which WR would have been the odd man out. It could have been St. Brown or maybe even MVS. Just because the Packers did not draft a WR doesn't mean they believed WR was not a problem.
After 45 NFL Games:
— PackersHistory.com (@PackersHistory1) December 14, 2020
Jordy Nelson: 100 Rec, 1268 Yards, 6 TDs
Marquez Valdes-Scantling: 95 Rec, 1636 Yards, 9 TDs
This is just to say, for the love of god, be patient. Let guys develop and don't give up on talented football players.
Nelson had 30 TDs in his next 45 games...
Only one game and he needs to provide some consistency, but easy to see why the team hasn't given up on him.
I keep forgetting about Funchess. He might return in Aug/Sept 2021. Lazard, ESB & MVS would've all stayed even with FUnchess. You'll notice they now have Tavon Austin
Gutey specifically stated they DID like some of the receivers that were drafted earlier in round 1. He tried to TRADE UP to get one (Jefferson / Aiyuk) but he was NOT going to mortgage the future to get a stud WR that probably will touch the ball an avg of 5-7 times per game IF he's good!
My biggest problem with the 2020 draft was picking Love instead of Queen. Love basically needs to be a decade long pro-bowl QB to make that pick worth it.
