It's that loss of field vision that I think affected his play more than anything. Combine that with the incredible ability to see what's developing and get the ball out so fast, is what helped make him special. Last year it was evident that the vision/quick-release combo was gone. I believe it was waning earlier, but having Adams covered it up because Rodgers locked in on him and Adams made it look easy -- even if he was covered and to a fault. Without Tae last year, the warts were exposed.

I could tell he was a little slower this past year, but when Love stepped in during the Eagles game it became glaringly obvious. Love just played so much faster and moves much faster than Rodgers did. It was then that I felt age may be catching up to Rodgers.
Nothing quite matches the Seattle debacle. Well, maybe 4th and 26 or Favre’s heave in OT v the Giants in 2007.
The Bucs loss to Brady was maddening because they had no business losing that game. The Niners loss sucked, but just about all facets of the Packers were off at times in that game.

That year the Pack was better than TB. It can be argued that SF was better than the Pack.

I would argue that the D, until that final drive, was superb. Holding them to 3 points, really. Stiffling most of their weapons.

Yeah when they intercept Brady THREE TIMES and we do NOTHING with it....

I had to chuckle at the last sentence in the last paragraph on Jamaal Williams. He has no equal in the vibes dept.

Or maybe the fact Philly had a big lead and went to playing a soft defense had something to do with that.
@Chongo posted:In addition starting Dennis Kelly over Yosh in playoff vs 49ers was epically stupid. He got worked like a rented mule.
Yeah, that made no sense to me, if Yosh needs some help put Mercedes over there. Some of MLF's coaching decisions (not firing the incompetent ST guy before the Niner game) look horrible.

That is what still stings from that game for me. You all know how much I piss and moan about the Packers defense. The defense finally shows up in the playoffs and sure enough the offense does not and the STs craps the bed.
@Boris posted:I can't imagine the FO wanting to move on from Rodgers if Love wasn't already doing those things.
De'Vondre Campbell on a podcast w/Bukowski when asked about Love....gets quiet...leans into the mic and says....."Jordan Love is a really good QB."
These players and the coaches see him every day in practice - no way they move on from Rodgers unless they know he's ready, just as they knew Rodgers was ready in 2008.
And yet MLF insisted on playing AR and his broken thumb. 🤔
So AR, nearing 40, wants the Jets to add more past their prime, or broken-down players to make him comfy.
"Aaron Rodgers has provided the NY Jets with a wish-list of free agents he would like them to target and acquire, per sources. It includes Randall Cobb, Marcedes Lewis and….Odell Beckham Jr."
Maybe the Jets are having second thoughts? I know I would, as in who is running the show around here, a guy who is a 2-year hire or us.

Not more than any other new starting QB. No franchise has ever had 30 straight years of HOF QB play. To expect that to go another 15 would be silly and unfair. Hope and cheer for him to be good, even very good. But essentially winning the lottery twice in a row should not convince one that they'll win it a third.
Garapolo presser postponed for another day. Oh oh, Jets about to get competition for 12.

No one had to have thicker skin than him. At least outwardly.
He develops his tight inner circle. Trust and loyalty became his mantra.
Nothing perfect about him. Still with all his quirks. Glad he was ours. And between Coaching issues- Defense Issues, Special Teams issues. And yes lack of “weapons”. “We” as Packer fans had a lot of great games to watch courtesy of 12.
Couldn't have said it any better.
Something that is never, or rarely mentioned about AR's interviews is how often he praises people. NO ONE mentioned that he acknowledged, by name, guys on the training staff, the cafeteria workers, scouting department, local business owners, etc. yesterday..... however if he, correctly, says he is in the running for the greatest Packer of all-time, it is reported as just another sign of his arrogance.

He is second only to Bart Starr, IMO.
@PackerRick posted:At one point in his career he demanded a trade so I'd say that opens the door for the Packers to trade him whenever they want. His arrogance is why he's out in GB. I still can't believe the Packers fell for his BS last year and gave him that contract. All you hear the guy say is MVP, MVP,MVP. Does he realize in 2019 he had one of the lowest QBR in his career and the Packers won 13 games? He went on his stat stuffing MVP runs and the Packers won ...........13 games. When 25% of your TD passes are 2 yards or less that QB rating goes right up. Aaron Jones had 16 rushing TDs in 2019 and a combined 13 in Rodgers MVP seasons. Those MVPs really mean nothing in the grand scheme of things.

This team definitely lost some mojo when he split. It says a lot when you don't find it difficult to root for a former Packer still playing in the division. He's one of those guys.

Yes, but I bought it 10 years ago. It might be a collector's item after all the other Packer fans burn theirs.

You just answered in the affirmative as to why it will be more than "any other" in your next sentence.
Fans after those 30 years have high expectations, and it could get ugly for Love if he plays poorly.

He named dropped a ton of people yesterday, but two people I noticed he didn't name (other than of course Gute) was Tonyan and MLF.

I totally agree with you on that. I think if you truly know football you understand that it can take time for a QB to develop and they rarely are great right away. And it is rare when it happens. I think if fans in this day and age want guys to be legends right away but that just doesn't happen. What we have experienced the last 30 years is truly unheard of in the NFL and is freaking remarkable. Teams consider themselves lucky to get ONE guy who is a HOF much less two back to back. Stop and think about it Bert and Darren have started 99% of this teams games since 1992.
I for one would be truly happy if Love is a game manager who wins games not playing hero ball but within the system. I am totally sincere on that just win.
Get the most you can and pay no attention too how long it takes. Remove emotion and make the company better.
The Jets are remarkably stupid. They have no QB right now. The QB of their future idolizes AR12 and they desperately need time for him to mature. Their Bart Starr offered up his retired number as tribute. The fans are viewing this as a fate acompli. Dragging this out to save their #1 is the most Jets move ever. They shouldn't be haggling prices. Get the most important guy for your team in the building and start focusing on building a championship with what's left of 12's 2 year window. I'm sure whoever they pick at 13 this year won't face any pressure because he cost them Aaron Rodgers and relevance. Have fun at training camp with the media circus.
12 as usual thinks he's so beloved that the fan base is going to turn against 1265 and demand he be traded for scraps because of all the great memories he gave us. This dude never once in all his career left money on the table to help the franchise surround him with talent or keep talent on the team. We pay attention too. If he shows up for off season work outs send him home. “They're digging their heels in..." yeah you half-in pain in the ass. They want what you're worth that you didn't put in when we paid you last year.
Guy thinks he should be set free to go wherever he wants. I'm all in on going to the last week of training camp and getting a seven for him if that's what it takes. Go fail with a new team and we'll send you off with a built in excuse in your pocket. Let that be your bitter legacy you can grumble about for the rest of your days.
There's a pressure point that hasn't been addressed and that's the NFL schedule release. Woody wants to be relevant. The NFL isn't putting the Jets in primetime if 12 isn't on their squad. Last year the schedule was released on May 12. The NFL owner meetings are March 26-30. Pressure will be on Woody to pony up for the good of the league. Bet on it.

I think that's mostly a function of age. I also think many fans appreciated AR because it felt like icing on the cake. Many, if not most of us on x4 know the 70s and 80s all too well. Those expecting Love to be hof caliber out of the gate have only ever known #4 and #12. I think the spoiled thing is a trope that would require taking something for granted. Most Packer fans have understood what they've had for 30 years and appreciated every minute. It would be a disservice to Love if that expectation is imposed on him. He will take his lumps like every other qb and it might take him a couple years, but as far as I'm concerned I'm perfectly willing to live with that if we see him improving and grasping what the position requires. 1992-2022 is remarkable. Love deserves the opportunity to figure out for himself if he wants to be great. The fact that this is just the third time in 30 years will be pretty damn exciting to me. If the kid learns how to win games, that's all we should expect.
Woodie inherited his money, nobody said he was smart. The #13 pick in the draft is unlikely to have much impact for the Jets this season and if they're pursuing Rodgers they are in the win now mode. It doesn't make sense for the Jets to haggle price, a price they probably knew when they flew to CA.

I wanted it to be done by now. But honestly, after seeing a good share of NY pundits and fans attitude, I hope GB chokes the shit out of the Jets. "No way should we give up a 1, they don't even want him back, Packers have NO leverage."
Not only do they want Rodgers, but they want him on a silver platter, which probably explains their miserable history of things getting blown up for 50 plus years. They don't care about giving fair compensation, when realistically everything should be on the table, if he's that valuable a commodity. Francesa in particular said no 1st and no current players. He also claims the clock works against GB in terms of leverage. One thing I've always hated about living in the east has been fans of teams who act as if there aren't 31 other teams. Eagles, Steelers, and Jets and Giants fans all pull that shit.
Maybe if Aaron hadn't opened his mouth this would be overwith. I don't blame 1265 in the least for gut-checking these people.
They're vastly underestimating the midwest sports fan's resolve to not get rolled by the big pocket NY team telling them to bend the knee. This is the NFL not MLB. There's a large contingent of regional fans that have been forced to succumb to big market forces for generations and would be all too happy to stick one deep in the craw of the media capital of the world with once in a lifetime leverage. Green Bay has the most coveted piece, and the back up plan to drag this out to the end. If ever there was a "F**k you, pay me" scenario this is it.

Absolutely. This video should be all over every media entity in the state. Let the NY media feed on the reaction. I don't think people have enough appreciation for how upset most of the Jets fan base is with their organization. If he's good enough to compete for a championship "f**k you, pay me" until they do. Gute is 100% right to fight to the end. Back Rodgers and the Jets into a corner where they have to defend being worth a first.
