Yeah- but the defendive pickings get slim awfully quick. They need at least one LB and the guys that (at least I thought) were good fits are all looking for more than they're worth or re-signed with their teams. There's no Peppers out there for the taking this time around, I don't think. And if Williams departs, they have a lot of depth and the draft to address replenishment. Hyde as well. In the d backfield I think they're covered.

So no ILB to invest in off the market, you look for guys that are with it and make the team better. Signing Spiller would seem like a Peppers-esque move. Just to rationalize it.

Again, it's not going to happen, but it would be a pretty strong move if they did. Maybe Spiller's addition turns a few FGs into TDs. Looking back at the offense's performance, in the tougher games (Seattle, Patriots, Lions) they struggled some. Again, just rationalizing it...

Bryant played the Jumbo End spot but reportedly didn't play very well against the run last year and offers zero as a pass rusher. JAred Odrick is a more well-rounded player and a contract younger.

I'd sign Reggie Bush before Spiller. Older, yes, but at least he's shown something in this league. Spiller has been nothing but a tease so far.

But screw all that, I'm with Boris, the concentration has to be on defense unless a halfway decent TE can be picked up.

RE: the Foles - Bradford deal. I thought I read that the Eagles get their pick(s) back if Bradford doesn't start at least 8 games or some other clause like this. Anyone?

About fifteen percent of their cap for guys playing on other teams.

@TheSaintsBeat: #Saints will now carry an estimated $21.5M in 'dead money' in 2015, mainly from Jimmy Graham, Ben Grubbs, Curtis Lofton.

Odrick is now with Jacksonville. Which is why Bryant is not.

@abrandt tweeted you can't put a clause "if he starts" into the contract.

The NFL won't allow that language. The Eagles could trot out Sanchez to "start" every game then put Bradford in on play #2 & it would satisfy the language of the deal. Which is why the NFL won't allow it

Regarding Bradford contract fine print:

"According to Schefter, the Eagles will receive a third-round pick if Bradford does not play at all next season and a fourth-round pick if he starts less than 50 percent of the plays"

Bradford said yesterday he still has some rehab work to do before he knows for certain he can actually start the season.

Unless he's bringing the Dallas offensive line with him, he'll be lucky to run for 2/3rds of what he did last year. He's being set up to be the biggest bust as a free agent RB ever.  Murray is actually a year older than the guy they just traded (McCoy). McCoy's gotten a lot more carries over his career, but Murray got 497 touches LAST YEAR.

Sign new RB. Trade starting O lineman who was first team All Pro in 2013 and a Pro Bowler in 2013/14.

@RapSheet: The #Eagles are working to trade G Evan Mathis, source said. More craziness.

I am so glad I'm not an Eagles fan.  So you ship off your high priced runningback only to sign another high priced runningback who isn't as good, has more miles, and is more injury prone.  And to make room for your new high priced runningback, you look to trade your pro bowl guard.  Makes sense.

I don't understnad these moves by Kelly. If he just shipped off one player I could easily be justified as that player being a malcontent or not getting with the program. When he ships off 5 of his most of productive players in 2 years then maybe the program needs to change. I don't think Kelly really knows what he's doing long term.

Mathis asked for a pay raise, the Eagles said no thanks

Mathis and his agent then asked for a trade

His agent also represents Frank Gore and LeSean McCoy

His first name is Drew, perhaps you've heard of him ?

I know you meant Maclin, others may not

It will be sooner than that. I'd say there's a chance they end up at that level this year. This could be a Bobby Petrino level melt-down.

They've jettisoned Nick Foles, Jeremy Maclin, Lesean McCoy, and are trying to trade an All-Pro offensive lineman.

They've added a QB with two reconstructed ACLs whose thrown 59 TDs in his career over 1760 attempts. DeMarco Murray was run into the ground last year at Dallas. He's an injury waiting to happen.

Last year Kelly missed the playoffs at 10-6. He's now making decisions from the coach's short-term perspective to keep his job, and not at the long-term GM perspective. It's either boom-or-bust: his team will be so good that his way of doing business is vindicated and the rest of the NFL follows suit or he will go down in flames with fans chasing him out of town back to the West Coast. But despite what he says, I think Kelly really wants Mariota and is doing his best to work a deal(s) to get him.

Eagles get a 5th round pick in 2016.

That 5th becomes a 4th round pick if Bradford only plays in 8 games or less in 2015. It becomes a 3rd round pick if he doesn't play in any games in 2015.

Hard to disagree with this. AP may be a new test case, though.

@RapSheet: #Cowboys have shown some un-Cowboys-like discipline over the past few months/years). Letting Murray walk. Draft 2 OLs. May help them sustain.

Murray and the OL was a huge part of Dallas'/Romo's success last year. Letting Murray walk and losing at least one OL without a Plan B is risky. Of course, they probably have a cell phone agreement with AP already.

Jerruh will get Peterson if the fracture between him and the Vikings proves to be irreparable. AP would make the Cowboys extremely dangerous if he got to play behind that OL. I'd love to see Peterson leave Minnesota, but not if he ends up in Dallas.

Thanks Boss, but I was referring to All Pro Guard, Evan Mathis who the Eagles are shopping since the Combine. Although at this point, it could refer to any Eagle

"NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport reported that the Eagles are working behind the scenes to trade two-time Pro Bowl guard Evan Mathis, according to a source."

Agreed, especially after getting an entire year of rest.

@AlbertBreer: Eagles announce 3-year deal with RB Ryan Mathews.

@AdamSchefter: So DeMarco Murray and Ryan Mathews now expected to share the Birds' backfield.

@JasonLaCanfora: Sproles makes $3M in 15 w/$1.5M guaranteed. Would imagine some decent Year One $ for Murray and Mathews. McCoy woulda cost $10.25. #fuzymath

@smartfootball: I guess Chip Kelly didn't deal LeSean McCoy because he wanted to spend less on the runningback position.

Chip Kelly doesn't know what Chip Kelly is doing.

Initially, moving McCoy looked like a smart move for dumping some cash. Even going after Murray could be argued as a positive for them in his offense, though the argument is kind of thin. But, when you add up everything he has done the past few days I don't see how he has improved the TEAM.

Colts just cut Trent Richardson but its probably going to take 45 minutes for Chip to get him signed.

Really looked like the Browns took Indy to the cleaners on the Richardson trade until Cleveland used that 1st rounder to draft Manziel. That is one long poop trail.

I still can't believe Richardson sucked in the NFL.  He had everything you could ever want in a running back: size, strength, speed, production against great defenses, and no injury or off-field concerns.  I still don't get what happened.  For me, probably the most shocking bust since I started following the draft.
