Please no to Boykin.

I know he played in Green Bay last year, but if he can't even make the first round of cuts for a team with an even more dire WR situation than our own, it is time to face the reality that he is just not any good -- and likely never was (just like Bostick who the Vikes cut to get down to 75).

For all the obvious downside associated with Jordy's injury, it bears remembering that Boykin was the #3 receiver heading into last season and stayed among the top 4 through the playoffs. Hard to believe but true.

I think what happened with him is he was enough of an unknown that there wasn't enough game film on him to prepare for.  He surprised some defenders at first but couldn't raise his game when they came at him prepared.  At his age and without any know injuries, it doesn't make any other sense for him to be respectable one year then fall off the map the next.

I don't know what happened in CAR.

Sometimes nobody wins.

Atlanta traded 5 picks to Cleveland for Julio Jones in 2011. Atlanta made the post season in 2011 and 2012. They've won a total of 10 games the last two years. Then they give Julio a $75 million extension....

Cleveland took those 5 picks from Atlanta and turned them into:

2011

Phil Taylor - 1st rd

Greg Little - 2nd rd

Owen Marecic - 4th rd

2012

Packaged 4th rounder from ATL to move up for Trent Richardson

Brandon Weeden - 1st rd

All 5 of those guys are no longer playing for Cleveland after Clevelend released Phil Taylor earlier today.

There is a **** load of GM incompetence going on right there.

Per Mike Sando @ ESPN:

Last two years. Falcons 10-22. Browns 11-21. Great!!!

This is from the Silverstein piece near the bottom regarding Boykin:

"It's likely Green Bay will add a veteran receiver before the regular season starts — possibly former Packers such as Jones or Jarrett Boykin or Jeremy Ross, if one is cut by his respective team. If it's not one of those three, it probably will be someone with some experience running a West Coast system."

Just a hack trying to make a story.  I doubt it happens

Cobb, Adams, Montgomery, White/Janis - that's 5. If they carry a 6th it would be Abby (healthy) or Pink is my guess. Janis already gives them a big target and he's faster than Boykin.  **edit** Monty is as big as Boykin and plays bigger. The allure of Boykin was his size as a red-zone match-up issue, at least that's how the fans and media saw him.

Cap'n Ted says steady as she goes as we enter this season.

The cutdown to 53 is rough enough, but MM must also consider who will be inactive each week. It doesn't make sense to sign anybody, only to have them inactive. Or who would have to be scratched for a new player to play?

Media no longer has any use for ethical reporting. Facts are irrelevant, but generating clicks or social media activity are.

Well the overwhelming--and I mean overwhelming 100%--consensus, among everyone NOT associated with 1265 Lombardi Ave., is there is absolutely no way the Packers are going to "take a chance" on Abbredabellrung and give him anything but an injury settlement.

Then his parents are asked about yet another concussion, and they're all, "Whatever, he's not worried about it and neither are we."

Then as we go into the last pre-season game you have the team spokesman saying, "Game on kid, what you got?"

So someone isn't getting the memo.  And really, does there have to be a memo?  Isn't it their choice?  Why assume more concussions are coming?  "Protocol" doesn't provide for that, and last I heard it is the conservative approach.

So yeah, this could get interesting.
