If that were to happen, Field will be trade bait, at best.
If they were to release him outright, his dead cap charge is 'only' $6M.

Either way, his career path is likely to follow that of Baker Mayfield, Teddy Bridgewater, Marcus Mariota, Jameis Winston, and so many others.

Welp, that was a mess.

He's not going to be counted on to be #1 or #1A with Waddle and Hill in the field.

If he feels like playing, he'll be fine. If he feels like just collecting a paycheck he probably won't last long.

The Bears traded their 2nd Rounder for Claypool. But in reality, it was a 1st Rounder as it was the 32nd overall pick.  Miami forfeited their 1st Round pick.  So the Bears/Ryan Poles traded a 1st in 2023 and a 7th in 2025 for 6th Round pick in 2025.

All GMs make bad personnel decisions. And then there’s this type of personnel decision.

Just thankful we've got Reed and Gutey's second-rounder was rejected by the Steelers.

Actually it was Reed, Wicks and Brooks we got.  The trade would have been for pick #45, but in the draft we traded down to #48 and got #159, then traded down again and got #50 and #179.  So that 45 became 50, 159, & 179 which we drafted Reed, Wicks and Brooks.

Through 4 games:

Reed: 12 rec, 203 yards, 2 TDs

Wicks: 6 rec, 85 yards, 1 TD

Brooks: 4 tackles, 2 sacks

Claypool: 4 rec, 51 yards, 1 TD

Bagent stats are good, but they're nothing to get overly excited about.  Yards/attempt was exceptionally low, 162 yards passing is meh. He also was helped by 173 rushing yards.

He hands off so much better than Fields does.

But he's a Bears QB. Do that consistently and you will become a top 3 Bears QB of all time.

Gotta believe the Bears have an idea of what Sweat’s agent wants in a deal and all willing to meet it. Or they are willing to put a tender on him for at least a 2.

Bears extend Sweat for 4/$98 million with almost $73 million guaranteed. Solid trade for TBSS.

However, they do get him for this year too. Which would make sense if you were a CONTENDER....which clearly the bears are NOT.

But hey.....I'm all about the Bears flushing draft capital.

I've been laughing since the Trubisky trade 😆🤣
