See ya Burnett. He was a solid player but never anything more. I can't remember the last impact play he made. Just checked his stats and he averaged about 1 interception, 1 forced fumble, 1 fumble recovery, and 1 sack per year over his career (9, 8, 10 and 7.5 over 8 years, to be exact). That's pretty weak for a starting safety. Jones seems up to the task but probably need another safety for depth.
I like what Gute has done so far but he really needs to sign a starting CB (maybe nickel), a #4 CB and a #3 safety. Anything less and we're likely rolling with at least 2 rookies taking on significant roles in the secondary.

The Vikes have been looking for a replacement for Jeff Siemon since 1982. Finally in Siemian they may have found him.
How come Cousins hasn’t signed yet? Trying to wring more $$$ out of Vikings since they now have 0 QBs?

Not really seeing that as a defense. He was terrible last year, his interception in overtime against us was typical of his decision making during the season. Although on second thought, you have a point---our new QB coach will school him up not to just chuck the ball up down the middle of the field when a defensive player is grabbing you as you throw.
