The ref called it against Burfict and ejected him. Yes, they watch him because of his previous disregard of the rules, but make no mistake that when a ref calls the foul, it's easier to levy a heavier penalty compared to when it's not called. If they had called Barnett, the NFL might have been able to add more to it.

They called the penalty on Barnett, just did not eject him.  I agree that the hit was just as egregious.

The Packers had 6-foot-10 Nate Wozniak in for a workout today. He played tight end in college but has tried to make the NFL as a tackle. He has spent time on two NFL practice squads (Saints in 2018 and Falcons earlier this season plus an offseason stint with the Vikings). Here's the full list of players the Packers worked out on Monday, according to a league source: T Nate Wozniak (Minnesota). T Brandon Hitner (Villanova). LB B.J. Bello (Illinois State). LB Andrew Dowell (Michigan State). LB Trevon Young (Louisville). DT Ashaad Mabry (UT-San Antonio). Note: Bello has played in 19 career NFL games (16 for the Browns in 2017 and three for the Eagles last season). ... Young played in two games for the Rams last season.

It's been 17 years, but I'm still pissed Warren Sapp wasn't called for his dirty hit on Chad Clifton.

It wasn't a penalty then. The refs made the right no-call under the rules as they existed.

I always hated Sapp and really hated him after that game.  The bragging about it afterwards was enough to make sane a person homicidal.

That goes for anyone who acts tough after blindsiding someone or catching them off balance.  Pure chickenshit.

Warren Sapp!  Thanks for reminding me of that POS.  Him and Suh, shit-birds of a feather.

How that hit was any different than the one Barnett did on Williams I would like to know. Runner was Stopped and the defense guy launched himself into his head.

Burfict wasn't suspended for the hit yesterday.  He was suspended for the year because of this hit and a history of similar hits.

"Your contact was unnecessary, flagrant and should have been avoided. For your actions, you were penalized and disqualified from the game," said league vice president Jon Runyan in announcing the ban.

"Following each of your previous rule violations, you were warned by me and each of the jointly-appointed officers that future violations would result in escalated accountability measures. However, you have continued to flagrantly abuse rules designated to protect yourself and your opponents from unnecessary risk."

There's a lot of talk out of Denver that they might be looking to trade Emmanuel Sanders (among others).  Their season is over so no reason to hold on to a 32 year old WR on the last year of his deal.  He was pretty immature when he was younger but he's grown quite a bit off the field in recent years.  He'd be a huge boost to this Packers receiving corp.

I'd trade a 4th then let him walk after the season, likely recouping a 5th round comp pick.

Good pass rusher at Bama, obviously hasn’t been able to put it together in Baltimore. Have to think Hendrickson and maybe even Z Smith gave some input that he was worth the chance. Not sure he’s much different than Reggie Gilbert at this point, I’m sure they’re hoping his best football is in front of him.

Thanks for the explanation Digger. My first thought was can he defend against the run? But looking at the large number of reps that the smiths are doing, it began to make some sense that, if only in practice, they need a few plays off now and then.
