The key is to not let SF get up by seven or more. I think Love can lead them back to a certain point, but if it's two scores, it's going to be trouble. I just don't have the confidence that when the other team gets ahead, that our D can put the clamp down and hold them long enough for our O to climb back. It's happened too often this year that we're down, we get to back within 7, the D falters on the very next drive, and we're down by two scores again. It's Barry's play not-to-lose mentality: "we're down, so let's be careful and not let them score again." You don't want that feeling of constantly climbing the mountin only to be shoved back into the valley. Plus, it would unleash Bosa et al., to have their runs at Love.

From packers.com:

The Green Bay Packers have elevated LB Keshawn Banks from the practice squad to the active roster for gameday, signed P Pat O'Donnell to the practice squad and released OL Michael Jordan from the practice squad. General Manager Brian Gutekunst announced the transactions Saturday.

O'Donnell (6-4, 220), a 10th-year player out of the the University of Miami (Fla.) who played for the Packers all of last season, returns to Green Bay after spending some time on the Atlanta Falcons' practice squad this season. In one season for the Packers (2022), he posted a 44.5-yard gross average and a 38.9-yard net average on 52 punts with 24 downed inside the 20. O'Donnell was originally selected by the Chicago Bears in the sixth round (No. 191) of the 2014 NFL Draft. In eight seasons with Chicago (2014-2021), he played in 128 regular-season games, punting 564 times for a franchise record 45.1 gross average and a 39.3 net average (No. 1 in team history since 1976). O'Donnell will wear No. 16 for the Packers.

The O’Donnell signing is interesting. Current punter Danny Whelan had popped up on the last injury report with illness. I wonder if Gute had O’Donnell fly out to SF on the off chance that Whelan wasn’t feeling better. As O’Donnell wasn’t activated that must mean Whelan is good to go. While O’D gets a check for his trouble.

Interesting to bring O'Donnell back. It seems like Whelan has done a pretty good job, but maybe O'Donnell is just insurance, or maybe he's helping Whelan to learn the finer points of holding for FGs?

#Packers CB Jaire Alexander is putting himself through a pretty aggressive workout 2 1/2 hours before the game at Levi's Stadium. No trainers around him. Doing some backpedaling and cutting. Looks like he's running close to full speed.

So, confirming what many always thought, especially last year: Rodgers was doing what he felt like and going off script. I, for one, am shocked.

I'll also add that I love that this offense looks so much better, so much more creative without the smartest guy in the room calling the shots and convinced he knows better. Hey Bobby Saleh, take notes for 2024. It won't be pretty.

Although when you have Hackett calling plays you might be better off having Rodgers going off script.

Correct. The reason that 49er fans do NOT want rain is all about hands. Specifically, Purdys. He has some of the smallest hands for a QB in the NFL.  Wet, small hands and throwing the football aren’t a good combo

Wanna guess who has the largest? One Jordan Love.

Ronika Stone can confirm.

Turnover margin will be huge, as already mentioned. Also important is to have the Niners playing from behind vs playing from behind. Purdy's numbers when his team is ahead are WAY better than when they are behind. He has 0 game winning drives this year (Love has 3) and 1 so far in his short career.
