Rong rong rong rong rong.   Creampuff passing Purdy will have the disadvantage passing. Love can drive the ball in the wind and rain. The disadvantage may be catching it but last time it looked like the Packers would be playing in the rain MLF had the WR catching water soaked balls at practice.

Correct. The reason that 49er fans do NOT want rain is all about hands. Specifically, Purdys. He has some of the smallest hands for a QB in the NFL.  Wet, small hands and throwing the football aren’t a good combo

Wanna guess who has the largest? One Jordan Love. I believe it’s between him and Rodgers that lead the league in hand size. That’s why you are seeing the same side arm throws and “flicks” of the wrist where Love can whip a ball 35 yards down the field with no problem.

The advantage if it’s raining is mostly going to Jordan.

I hope the Niners are overconfident.  We’re playing with house money.  The longer we stay in the game, the more pressure on them.  Long Packer drives ending to touchdowns.  And, a few Niner turnovers would be nice.  😉

I think the advantage in wind and rain goes to Love. He can spin it and get it there on a line. Purdy doesn't have that kind of arm strength. Gotta make Purdy throw some long ones on second- and third-and-long. Make him have to put some air on it and it will hang up for an extra split second. Love just has to be careful not to toss up his own creampuffs like he can at times on longer throws. He's gotten better at flattening out some of them, and I hope he remembers that Saturday.

Enagbare is a loss.

Still got 3 very good OLBs.   The lack of depth is even more reason to play aggressive on D.   Don't need the soft zone allowing long drives to wear down our pass rushers.

Lets be honest, this game is going to be all about CMC vs our run D.

Stopping HGH will be job #1!! They will need to get to Purdy after they stop him. Going to be a challenge but I just hope the defense is rested.

90 fucking plays last week?!? WTAF!

Another case in point! You're taking this game personal aren't you??

Losing 4 straight times to these pricks. Twice by a FG in Lambeau. I want to pay them back.

Both those games the better team LOST! I want the "better team" to lose again on Saturday Night and even the all-time playoff series at 5-5

Love is a system QB that can't make the difficult throws? Not expecting Bosa or a SF writer to sing Love's praises but that's bizarre.

It’s a poor translation. That was a sneaky way for Bosa to take a shot at Rodgers and to praise Purdy. That was not a shot at Love.

While the GB offense has been fun as hell to watch of late, I think this game comes down first and foremost to how physical the defense plays. I don't see this Joe Barry defense being able to hit SF in the mouth and control the LOS. Why do I say that? Because I've never seen it happen. I fear SF feasts on this and runs GB off the field, maybe not to the extent they did in 2019, but with the same blueprint and with similar results. Hopefully the GB offense can stay on the field and match SF  blow for blow.

It happened in 2021. That offense could only muster 13 points. Of course, they didn’t have McCaffery.

The D hasn't been playing "soft" for over a month now.  They're not on par wth SF but as long as Barry doesn't curl them back up into a soft zone fetus, they'll challenge.  Tackling was very good vs. DAL and they'll need an even better game vs. SF.  Having Jaire and McDuffie, all hands on deck, is also crucial.

They will play a lot of zone this week. It doesn’t have to be soft though.

Gary needs to protect the edge this week. The only way the 9ers win this week is if the Packers can’t control the run. They won’t stop the run, but they need to slow it down.

Slow the run. Keep Love clean in the pocket. They win.

GB could hang a big number on SF. They can not cover in the secondary. Run the ball just enough to keep Warner and Greenlaw from bailing deep middle. GB offense is a tough matchup for SF.

Yeah, I read it again and it was just the sportswriter being a moron, not Bosa.

Gotta win one-on-ones in pass protection to give receivers enough time to come open on deep crossers.

I'm betting that MLF and Love have plays and calls to get people wide open against the 49ers defense, much like they did against Dallas's defense. Thinking of that Hollywood play,  where either Kraft or Musgrave or both, are wide open, under the coverage or down the sideline. Same thing for our WRs. Watson was a decoy last week and drew extra coverage from the Dallas DBs. Romeo flourished in that scenario. We can do this!  I pray our Defense can make Purdy "Mr Irrelevent" once again! GO PACK, GO!!!

I wouldn’t be surprised if we see Brooks lined up outside this week to make up for some Enagbare snaps. It just seems like Gary has been getting quite a bit of rest lately and maybe they’re limiting his snaps.

What DH13 said.  I know we typically want Gary to hold the edge, but I think play more of a true 3-4 and move Gary inside as an end with Clark and Slayton so he can use his power more.  Put Preston and LVN at the OLB since LVN seems to make plays when he gets in the backfield as someone said in the LVN thread.  Hell, put Gary and LVN next to each other and make the tackles pick their poison.

Found on the internet:

Knowing Shanahan, he has been really good at exposing teams weaknesses. When you look at our defense, you can see our corners on the outside don’t really want to tackle.. And the best way to attack that? WRs screens.. RB screens.. end around plays.. and there isn’t a team that’s better or more equipped to do that. C-Mac, Deebo and Aiyuk can all take a 2yrd pass 80yrds to the house.. And if you’re playing your DBs 5-10yrds off the WR, we’re already at a disadvantage before the play even starts. Giving any of those guys a running start is scary.. I’d really hope MLF and Barry are emphasizing film study to identify these formation cues, aggressiveness to the ball carrier and being disciplined with your eyes. We absolutely have to eliminate how many times we lose on a play because we were simply tricked into thinking one play was actually something else.

When it comes to how the corners should line up, this is the time when Barry should go the opposite way of the norm. Man…man…man… add zone in occasionally.. then more man. Shanahan has been shredding zone coverages with his schemes and timing of the plays he calls. I’d rather lose because the guys simply got outplayed, as opposed to some kinda communication error that left one of those star players sitting by themself somewhere down the field. I’d like Walker/Campbell to just be able to focus on what C-Mac and Kittle are doing.. instead of having to pass off zones, worrying if theyre getting good enough depth (which they’re gonna have to regardless, but you can limit they’re thinking mid play so they can just play fast), or have someone like Deebo land in their zone and be completely mismatched.

I’d let Jaire follow Aiyuk, and Valentine take Deebo. Aiyuk is the faster, shiftier, better route runner.. just feel it would be easier (not easy) for him to stick with Deebo. Emphasize setting the edge this week and being gap sound. I’d rather LVN have 0 pressures or sacks if that meant that C-Mac isn’t able to bounce outside hardly at all. I expect pressure/sacks and edge setting from Gary. They have a bad RT, he’s been quiet lately and this is what you get paid for.. time to show up. For those runs to stay in the middle, let Clark and Slaton eat up blocks.. and let Walker and Campbell just find the right hole. Also, let Savage lurk.. disguise his coverage.. that’s what he excelled at in college. He’s fast enough to hang with anyone and is really smart. One of the big things about him coming out of college was how super smart he was.. he showed last week he can trick a QB and make them pay.

On the offensive side.. one thing that worries me more than anything is Aaron Jones. We all know he’s a playmaker, has been red hot and can find holes damn near every play. But he’s had a tendency to fumble in these big games.. and the 9ers LBs are the best in the league, and also probably the most physical. He’s also been injury prone lately.. Matt needs to be emphasizing ball protection like no other this week. To everyone honestly. Love and Jones specifically. Warner and Greenlaw are extra aggressive but well disciplined.

Surprisingly, the 9ers aren’t that great at stopping the run. This is the path of victory I feel is most likely. MLF has been IN…HIS…BAG lately. The way some of these plays are designed is phenomenal. It’s no coincidence that there were guys open by a country mile. The Musgrave TD was a great example. DBs had to worry about routes on one side of the field.. LBs and D-line had to worry about a screen to Jones on the other side of the field.. Musgrave sells a fake like he’s going to block for the screen and slips out the backdoor.. and the closest person to him was probably a fan in the stands at that point. That’s just one example.. they have misdirection run plays.. with some lineman pulling one way, others going the other way.. with TEs pulling back around the other way. LBs and DL heads are spinning. Which sets up the play action, where Love has been great and the WRs have been winning. So MLF has to cook like he did last game, the run game has to keep the offense on the field with long drives that keep SF off the field.. then let Love be himself and finish these drives off with points.

One side of my head wants to lean towards the 9ers this week and say they win in a close game, because what are the odds that the magic just keeps going? They’ve had our number forever now, they’ve got 2 weeks of rest and are just as hungry if not more, more experienced and really good under pressure. The other side of my head and my heart have us winning. I believe the offense and defense have the horses to run with them.. they haven’t seen a offense/QB this hot in a long time, if at all this season. The 2 weeks rest can make or break some teams. The Packers have shown up big time in the games that they’re under dogs.. and there’s a sense that the 9ers arent necessarily looking past us, but maybe underestimating us, and that could be their downfall.

The Ravens had a lot of success hitting Justice Hill out of the backfield. Look for Aaron Jones to maybe be more involved in the passing game to move the chains. Also Cleveland blitzed the crap out of Purdy and he threw four picks.

Found on the internet:

Barry's deep zone, swiss cheese, rope-a-dope defense is taylor made for Shanahans offense to run wild in the middle of the field. Catch and run will be there all day if Barry doesn't man coverage. Kittle, Samuel, Ayuck, CMC will be cutting up Barry's cover 3 like a hot knife through butter...without major adjustment. McCarthy s Cowboys like to force the ball deep.....right into the teeth of a cover 3 like Barrys......and run the ball only if necessary.. I seriously doubt Kyle Shanahan will make the same mistake.

Too much offensive firepower on the Niners and I see the Packer defense as being exposed by Shanahan. Niners win 34-27 in Joe Barry's last game as DC. I was wrong about the Lion, Chief and Cowboy games and hopefully the streak continues.

What makes them a touch matchup is the fact that this time around they have a QB playing within the system as its designed.  And they have lots of young fast talent at the skill positions and its hard to cover them all.

Do I expect them to win?  Honestly I don't  but I think GB is going to give SF all they can handle.

I am thinking the Packers lead a good part of the game and then SF takes over in the second half and shreds Barry's defense and pulls away 38-21.  Man I hope I am wrong and Go Pack Go!

One of the football analysts on Twitter pointed out that the plays that Doubs was open on over the middle were the same plays MLF schemed the most recent Niners playoff loss. This is Rodger's final pass in the playoffs as a Packer. Essentially, Watson (as you point out as a decoy) ran the same clear out deep route several times against the Cowboys that D. Adams did in this play. Doubs runs across the middle the same way Lazard did here and they are both wide open.

Argh, what could've been.

Even if the D keeps playing as well as they have the last several weeks, where SF can gut them is the same place DAL had their really only success.  Middle of the field to the TE.  Ferguson had a big game, some of it garbage time, but Kittle is a tougher matchup than Ferguson.
