LVN numbers vs Gary's as a rookie, LVN has been way better with limited snaps. With #55 out with an ACL, LVN needs his reps increased Saturday:

Knowing Shanahan, he has been really good at exposing teams weaknesses. When you look at our defense, you can see our corners on the outside don’t really want to tackle.. And the best way to attack that? WRs screens.. RB screens.. end around plays.. and there isn’t a team that’s better or more equipped to do that. C-Mac, Deebo and Aiyuk can all take a 2yrd pass 80yrds to the house.. And if you’re playing your DBs 5-10yrds off the WR, we’re already at a disadvantage before the play even starts. Giving any of those guys a running start is scary.. I’d really hope MLF and Barry are emphasizing film study to identify these formation cues, aggressiveness to the ball carrier and being disciplined with your eyes. We absolutely have to eliminate how many times we lose on a play because we were simply tricked into thinking one play was actually something else.

When it comes to how the corners should line up, this is the time when Barry should go the opposite way of the norm. Man…man…man… add zone in occasionally.. then more man. Shanahan has been shredding zone coverages with his schemes and timing of the plays he calls. I’d rather lose because the guys simply got outplayed, as opposed to some kinda communication error that left one of those star players sitting by themself somewhere down the field. I’d like Walker/Campbell to just be able to focus on what C-Mac and Kittle are doing.. instead of having to pass off zones, worrying if theyre getting good enough depth (which they’re gonna have to regardless, but you can limit they’re thinking mid play so they can just play fast), or have someone like Deebo land in their zone and be completely mismatched.

I’d let Jaire follow Aiyuk, and Valentine take Deebo. Aiyuk is the faster, shiftier, better route runner.. just feel it would be easier (not easy) for him to stick with Deebo. Emphasize setting the edge this week and being gap sound. I’d rather LVN have 0 pressures or sacks if that meant that C-Mac isn’t able to bounce outside hardly at all. I expect pressure/sacks and edge setting from Gary. They have a bad RT, he’s been quiet lately and this is what you get paid for.. time to show up. For those runs to stay in the middle, let Clark and Slaton eat up blocks.. and let Walker and Campbell just find the right hole. Also, let Savage lurk.. disguise his coverage.. that’s what he excelled at in college. He’s fast enough to hang with anyone and is really smart. One of the big things about him coming out of college was how super smart he was.. he showed last week he can trick a QB and make them pay.

On the offensive side.. one thing that worries me more than anything is Aaron Jones. We all know he’s a playmaker, has been red hot and can find holes damn near every play. But he’s had a tendency to fumble in these big games.. and the 9ers LBs are the best in the league, and also probably the most physical. He’s also been injury prone lately.. Matt needs to be emphasizing ball protection like no other this week. To everyone honestly. Love and Jones specifically. Warner and Greenlaw are extra aggressive but well disciplined.

Surprisingly, the 9ers aren’t that great at stopping the run. This is the path of victory I feel is most likely. MLF has been IN…HIS…BAG lately. The way some of these plays are designed is phenomenal. It’s no coincidence that there were guys open by a country mile. The Musgrave TD was a great example. DBs had to worry about routes on one side of the field.. LBs and D-line had to worry about a screen to Jones on the other side of the field.. Musgrave sells a fake like he’s going to block for the screen and slips out the backdoor.. and the closest person to him was probably a fan in the stands at that point. That’s just one example.. they have misdirection run plays.. with some lineman pulling one way, others going the other way.. with TEs pulling back around the other way. LBs and DL heads are spinning. Which sets up the play action, where Love has been great and the WRs have been winning. So MLF has to cook like he did last game, the run game has to keep the offense on the field with long drives that keep SF off the field.. then let Love be himself and finish these drives off with points.

One side of my head wants to lean towards the 9ers this week and say they win in a close game, because what are the odds that the magic just keeps going? They’ve had our number forever now, they’ve got 2 weeks of rest and are just as hungry if not more, more experienced and really good under pressure. The other side of my head and my heart have us winning. I believe the offense and defense have the horses to run with them.. they haven’t seen a offense/QB this hot in a long time, if at all this season. The 2 weeks rest can make or break some teams. The Packers have shown up big time in the games that they’re under dogs.. and there’s a sense that the 9ers arent necessarily looking past us, but maybe underestimating us, and that could be their downfall.

Unfortunately I think man coverage against the Niners will lead to big plays.  It's pick your poison with the talent on their offense but I think Zone and bend don't break is the lesser of two evils.  We need to mix in some man and blitzes but hope that we can generate some pass rush with four lineman and try to create turnovers and at least extra plays.

The Niners DL has been underperforming and hopefully that continues Sunday.  Any semblance of a running attack and good protection for Love and we will move the ball.  Greenlaw isn't a great cover guy.  Warner is better but I think he will have trouble with our shifty receivers and #33.  Their secondary can definitely be had.

I wouldn’t be surprised if we see Brooks lined up outside this week to make up for some Enagbare snaps.

That's brilliant. At this stage of their careers Brooks is a more skilled rusher than LVN.

Barry's deep zone, swiss cheese, rope-a-dope defense is taylor made for Shanahans offense to run wild in the middle of the field. Catch and run will be there all day if Barry doesn't man coverage. Kittle, Samuel, Ayuck, CMC will be cutting up Barry's cover 3 like a hot knife through butter...without major adjustment. McCarthy s Cowboys like to force the ball deep.....right into the teeth of a cover 3 like Barrys......and run the ball only if necessary.. I seriously doubt Kyle Shanahan will make the same mistake.

Man up all day and CMC goes for 300 yards. You can't do that.

SF Notes: DL Clelin Ferrell is OUT for saturday.  LB Greenlaw is questionable.

Looks like Arik Armstead will play.  He's nearly as good in that D as Wagner.

They have really missed Armstead the middle.  He has plantar fasciitis, so hopefully he reaggravates it during the game.  Ferrell sets a better edge than Young so I see us running right at Young.

Hand size.

Purdy, 9.25"

Love, 10.5"

Not sure if hand size really does correlated with fewer turnovers in poorer conditions, but Favre is always an outlier. Kenny Pickett's hand size has been a talk radio running joke for a couple of years now.

Favre 10.38 inches

Rodgers 9.38 inches

Kenny Pickett 8.5 inches

Dak Prescott 10.8 inches

Drew Brees 10.25

Russell Wilson 10.25

Tom Brady 9.3

NBA Example

Giannis 12.0 inches

Let’s not kid ourselves going into this game. San Francisco is without a doubt the better team. They have a better defense. Their offense has so many insane weapons. They’re very solid on special teams as well. However, as Herb Brooks said to his team before they played the Soviets, “If we played this team 10 times, they might win 9… but not this game.”

Even a blind squirrel finds a nut every now and again. We certainly have the team, the coaches, and the energy to win this game. It’s all gonna come down to who wants it more at the end of the game.

Dude was as good a pure passer that I ever saw. Could throw the length of the field with pure ease and had the ability to thread the needle like a seamstress. He is definitely missed.

Also Craig newsome.

Craig Newsome played well, but Wayne Simmons intimidated people because he was legitimately crazy. Even as intimidating as Reggie White was as a player, you knew he would be one of the nicest guys you ever met after the game. Wayne Simmons had the vibe of a guy that would hunt you down after the game on your way to the bus or your car if you pissed him off on the field.

Simmons was even crazy enough to cuss out Reggie White on the field.

https://packerrats.com/showthr...INEBACKER-I-EVER-SAW

During the Super Bowl against New England, Mayes stated that Wayne Simmons was cussing Reggie White out in the huddle to try to motivate him after he played the first half with no sacks and no tackles. Immediately after Simmons talk, White stormed over to Pepper Burruss and had the tape cut off, freeing up his hands and arms for an all out attack on Drew Bledsoe. White went on to have three sacks in the fourth quarter.

Simmons didn't mind confrontation and fed off the challenge. In the 1997 Packers Media Guide, he stated, "When I line up accross from you, I will destroy you and I will crush you." And that exemplifies Wayne Simmons on the playing field.

Charles Haley was the same way (one of the most psychotic guys ever to play in the NFL). The best teams in many sports often have those guys that teeter on the border between physically intimidating and crazy.

Sports anchor last night..... Says....."every team would take Brock Purdy over Jordan Love"

I can guarantee  even the Niners would take Love over Purdy

He was all pissy.... Because Amy Trask said she can't wait to watch seven great quarterbacks and Brock Purdy. 😆

A lot of manufactured... Disrespect

I said it before..... Any of the seven other quarterbacks remaining.... Would have more success than Brock Purdy has with the exact same supporting cast.

Somebody has to be the 8th quarterback when there's only eight quarterbacks left. You think anybody is picking one of the first rounders to be less than Brock Purdy??

I thought I was okay with a loss.  I no longer am.  The Packers need to win this game.

In the scheme of things I am OK with a loss as long as it's somewhat competitive and the Packers don't make unforced errors to beat themselves.

If McCaffrey makes some great plays to beat us or if Chase Young/Nick Bosa generate pass rush and disrupt the offense despite well designed protection schemes, sometimes the other guys are just really good and you have to appreciate talent. Nick Bosa and Chase Young were #2 overall picks (both behind QBs) in their drafts. They are supposed to be be dominant.

The losses that bother me the most are

1. When the officials make egregious mistakes

The Arizona missed facemark call after the 2009 season

The Jerry Rice fumble after the 1998 season.

2. When your QB makes idiotic decisions (in other words, post-Holmgren Favre against the Giants in OT, against the Eagles in OT, and the 6 interception game against the Rams).

3. When you get beat because of poor execution on special teams (2014 Seattle, 2021 Niners). If Devin Hester or Gale Sayers beats you on a punt return fine, but don't get beat because you don't execute simple things.

My prediction is that the Niners will get ahead in the first half, but it won't be a blowout. Say something like 20-10 at the half. The Packers may close within a one score at some point (20-13 or 20-17 in the third quarter), but then the Niners will pull away and get ahead by something like 34-17. The final score will end up looking a little better after the Packers move the ball in garbage time (37-24 or something like that).

LeRoy was just on moving the chains. Freaking hilarious. He's still mad about the Super Bowl against the Donkeys. Wants to beat CMC because his father played for Denver. Also has a bone to pick with Shanarat because of his dad as well. He should give a pregame speech!
