The WIAC had a Pro Day at UW-Whitewater earlier in the week.  At least 4 NFL scouts said they would attend but not one of them showed up.  Not sure what teams had committed, but it would have been nice for at least one to show up to watch these young men try to  keep a dream alive.

I agree on Ragland but something's going on. Saw another mock with him out of the first round...

What I think is going on is what goes on every year.  People make many versions of mock drafts with many combinations of players going in different positions.  That way they have a better chance of being nominally correct on one of them.  So then they can say later "See, I predicted that" when some chunk of it works out like one of their mock draft versions shows.

The value I see in mock drafts is I get to see where other people are willing to slot a guy.  I also think that those that are done prior to the combine are a better indicator because they are done based on what people saw in college and without the distortion of the combine.  Injuries have an affect on those, but many of those players come with known injury history.  Just my opinion.

Lots of people re-do them often because things change.  I just dumped the latest prospect rankings from CBS Sports and GBN into a spreadsheet with other rankings and this is how they impacted the mock I did last weekend.  First rounder Emmanuel Ogbah up to #24 overall and now off the board when the Packers pick.  Kolby Listenbee jumped and is off the board when the Packer's first pick in round four comes up (and I had the Packers taking him with their last pick in round four).  Nick Vigil off the board in round five.  Daniel Lasco off the board in round six.  Outside of Spence, Ogbah was the last of what I would guess Thompson would see as first round value pass-rushers.  So then the first round pick is probably Hunter Henry (which would remove Higbee from round three consideration) or a 5-technique possibility (probably Chris Jones or Vernon Butler...which would remove Willie Henry from round two consideration).  I also had Thompson drafting two offensive linemen in round four and with the Lane Taylor signing I think they will only take one (if the take two the second drafted probably wouldn't be higher than round seven).

2x each week I run a Packers mock via Fanspeak using their big board. 1st draft is BPA, 2nd draft each week is BPA at a position of need for the Packers. I have been loading the full results of each draft into a SQL-DB that I'll use to compile my final consensus board the morning of Day 1.

Stay tuned.

For reference, I see OT as the #1 need for the Packers and have been drafting according to that perspective.

Aspergers?

Three guys I won't be surprised to rise/fall to 27 and be the pick:

Falling Value Pick: Virginia Tech CB Kendall Fuller...Injury questions, but Darrell Revis-like shutdown corner potential.

Rising Value Pick: Indiana OT Jason Spriggs...elite athlete, starting LT potential.

Best Value Pick: Louisiana Tech DT Vernon Butler...Huge upside, Mo Wilkerson-like potential.

Doing "numerous" mocks, using many different Boards, I've had both Butler & Spriggs as our First Round choice. Others include; Spence, Ogbah, Floyd, Ragland, Billings, Dodd, Lawson, Calhoun, & Conklin.

Steelers have been awarded 31 compensatory picks in history -- 5th best. Ravens, Cowboys, Packers, Pats better. Coincidence? Nope

Weird...

And all I have to show for it is no ILB's and this stoopid Dick Rod T-shirt.

Both fourth-rounders.  Lions picked up a 3rd and 6th.

I get it...but still seems like addition by subtraction. Once every now and again we snag a Bacterium in the 4th. Meh.

I really like Matt Miller.  Not sure if he's "better" but he does a really good job explaining what he's looking at.  I like that kind of insight more than just mock drafts (which I could do).  Guys like Kiper and McShay seem to just pull names out of a hat.

CU what do you think of Penn St DE Carl Nassib? Is he a one year wonder or the real deal? Personally, I love him as a prospect. He has great height and length, great motor, great attitude, production was there albeit only in year 4. If he takes a redshirt year in the pros and bulks up and could play effectively at like 290...he reminds me of Aaron Smith/Brett Kiesel with Justin Smith potential.

Is that the "I Love Slow DikRod" t-shirt?  I bet you're popular with the fellas.

I'm not sure Nassib has the frame to maintain the size of those guys and he's way more stiff than Smith. The guy appears to have  my lateral movement skills.

He's 6'7" and 275 lbs., he's very lanky. He has a ton of room to grow and add muscle. Smith never had elite lateral quickness either, his game was always power and hustle. Even as a 43 End in Cincy he piled up sacks with power and technique, not speed. Smith came out in 2001 and was 6'4" 273 and I think Kiesel was about the same except taller.
