Repost from "trades/releases" thread:

I heard that KC is going to the 4-3 defense.  Ford is less a 4-3 guy and Frank Clark is more of a 4-3 guy.  So that might be why.  Besides KC has signed some other starting caliber defensive guys to go along with Clark.  The rest they can pick up in the draft.

I very good source on the Cardinals says, "They're either taking Kyler Murray #1 overall or it's the greatest smokescreen of all-time"

I don't think Cardinals "Management" is smert enough to pull off the "greatest smoke-screen of all-time"

Get your bets in now folks, and grab your popcorn!!!  [Matt Perrault] According to @Ourlads_Shonka .... SHOCKER here ... he hears that Q. Williams of Alabama will go to the @cardinals tomorrow at number 1 ... not Kyler Murray.

Bob McGinn has come out with his thoughts. He believes the Packers are strongly thinking of taking the DL Jeffrey Simmons. He believes they will "gamble on greatness" and that the earlier event with punching a girl is not who he really is and go ahead and take him.  At any rate- the four players the packers will consider are Brian Burns, Devin Bush, Rashan Garay, and TJ Hockenson but in his mock they are all gone so he goes with Simmons. At 30 he has them taking Juan Thornhill.

So someones else held his fist and threw it for him?

I haven't kept up with Simmons but didn't he tear a knee ligament while training for the draft?  and he has a past history of putting his hands on women?

I say hard pass on that one this team needs guys who can contribute right away but that's just me.

What about Noah Fant on Eisen's top ten list? Would he be #11? If Hockenson and Fant are both off the boards, Simmons could be a great pick for the Packers. Let him rehab his knee for a year and then next season he could be ready if we cannot, or do not, re-sign Daniels. I like Thornhill, as well, but he should be there for the Packers at #44. With pick #30, I'd still go to Dalton Risner, if he is available.

McGinn has a history of pretty good accuracy in predicting the draft based on what he hears from scouts.

Was kinda thinking Simmons would drift to the lower half of Rd1. With multiple needs, need to get guys contributing asap....pass. Maybe at 30 if he's still there.

FWIW Last year I believe McGinn mocked Minkah Fitzpatrick to us.

I would think that with his injury and his past he should slide down the board and you could get him in a later round.  I am with Pike's Peak this team needs defensive playmakers right NOW not a future project.

If he can develop into a dominant DT next year, why not? Better than taking a good TE, for example. The woman punching thing usually repeats. Women don't get less annoying, because you are making money. Don't like this pick for that reason.

I am probably the least confrontational person alive and have never hit anyone. Someone could say something to me all day long and I would never respond in a fight. But, if someone man or woman was to agressively get in my wifes or daughters face and tell them "F You and your dead children" after my wife or daughter had more than one miscarriage as this story goes,  I think my Jerry Springer button would definetly be pushed and no telling how I would react. That is supposedly what happended in Simmons situation.

Punching a woman? If that was a dude I would get it, but a woman? Only if my safety was at risk.

If for some reason Packers take Sweat at #12, I don't think they go Simmons at #30 for the simple fact drafting guys with injuries is always a risk. Can't really think of any guys who fell that were classified as "before the injury, he was a top 10 pick," that panned out.

That said, tea leaves seem to be pointing toward OT with #12

Seattle will draft Simmons at #29. To replace Frank Clark. One woman beater for another.

This draft is weird. After the top 10, I don't remember seeing so many players up & down the first & 2nd rounds. TJ Hock & Fant mocked at #12 or dropping into round 2. Weird....

Michael Silver just said the #1 overall pick might not be who you think it is.

Wondering if AZ has a trade partner.

I guess my way of thinking is that they are not in a position to give red shirt years to players to recover from injury.  In previous years the roster when the roster was nice and deep so they could afford it but now they need playmakers on the field.  I also totally agree on your thought about hitting a woman and I would worry that would happen again.

I still contend Kyler Murray is a smoke screen. If the Cards are dumb enough to take him #1 overall, so be it, just pushes someone down to us...since we are NOT taking a QB in round 1 (fukk you Daniel Jeremiah, and Bucky Brooks).

Then, there are also the Raiders who might take Murray at #4.

Two teams in the Top 5 where folks speculate they may not be happy with their starting QB (Rosen and Carr).

Hockenson vs. Fant.  Anyone real familiar with them?   From what I’ve read it seems Hockenson is the better all around TE including blocking and Fant is a little faster and creates more matchup problems but isn’t as good a blocker.   Correct or not?

MLF must love Hockenson. He is Jason Witten slow but stems every route to get open. He’s pattern fast. He’ll man up on an edge or DE and block them. And get 2nd level to find a LB or S and won’t back down.

Theres a reason he’s probably going top 10 which is like a G going top 10. It doesn’t happen often.

Fant is very, very good. But Hock is exactly the TE MLF loves.

You really have to have a plan for your TE if you want to take one that high.  If it's Fant then you can't have him on the field if you want to run effectively though he is more athletic and can really rip the seam in the passing game.  Hockenson can play all 3 downs, is a 6th lineman and can catch and run effectively.
