....add another pass-catcher and they will make a run at free-agent tight end Austin Hooper....

I like Austin Hooper but won't that spend too much of the available cap  ? Spotrac projects $10M/year !!!  TE is a need, but not as big as WR, ILB, Right Tackle, Defensive End, etc...

If your going to shoot the FA wad, I'd prefer it be on Conklin or Littleton, etc....Bulaga??......fills a top need which can't all be filled by the draft alone. Then maybe a second tier FA like Michael Pierce or Shelby Harris. Leaves cap for Rookies and Kenny Clark extension. Then draft away !!

BTW, can we get a "Cut Jimmy Graham Countdown" Clock ???!!!

I don't really believe in taking WR's in the 1st round.

Yet again, a midget WR wears the winning SB ring, and all the famous tall WR's watch the Super Bowl from their couches. Still, the slow fat toads are so dominating in regular season games against mediocre defenses. Big WR's feast on that. It's so gratifying to watch Allison, MVS, Lazard, Kumerow. It was so sad not too see St. Brown out there sucking as bad as that crew did.

Surely next year will be the year the next Tyrone Calico dominates the NFL and wins the ring.

My favorite WR in the draft is Duvernay out of Texas. Very physical, has plenty of acceleration and speed, catches the ball very well, breaks tackles. ****** would have an option to actually throw the ball per the play timing instead of running around buying time until either the coverage finally breaks down or he gets sacked. Or, they could talk themselves into a 6'3" slot receiver. They're way better because they're big and physical and have a huge catch radius and upside. Tall guys always have upside; just not many 21st-century SB rings. Still, lots of upside. And, a big catch radius. Did I mention upside? They have lots of upside. Still, 6'4" would be better. Of course, 6'5"? Man, that would be so cool. They had some clown who was over 6'6". I just don't understand why he's not a starter. Jump ball all the way to the Super Bowl. That would be something to watch.

DL is a top four spot we need this draft /FA. OT, ILB and WR are the others. Take the best player available at each position and build depth into our OL, which we pretty much neglected the past few years, with Elgton Jenkins being the exception. In FA, maybe Hooper is the guy we get, once JG is gone. That would give us four TEs. OT could be picked up in FA but the draft will provide cheaper alternatives for the Packers.  Taking an ILB is imperative. We could get a quality WR in the 2nd or 3rd Rounds, in Mims, Duvernay or Claypool. We also need to seek an IDL, or two, as our run defense was porous and most likely cost us the NFCCG. Lots of decisions to be made by Gute and Co. by next month. Buckle up!

It's shit flingin' at the wall season.  Yes, please draft a QB who makes bad decisions to the point of some mocks calling them "really bad decisions" in the first round.

CONS: Needs to improve his field vision and awareness. Often fails to recognize or completely disregards coverage rotations and it doesn’t have a great enough impact on his decision making. He throws some careless, YOLO balls that need to be reduced. While there is a lot to like about his willingness to be patient and stay in the pocket, his internal clock is often tardy. Can be aggressive vertically to fault. Has to find more consistency with timing and progressions. Has general accuracy with plenty of misfires.

BEST TRAIT - Physical Gifts

WORST TRAIT - Decision Making

RED FLAGS - None

NFL COMP - Colin Kaepernick

Nate Davis of USA TODAY Sports foresees the Packers being unable to pass on a highly touted quarterback in the first round:

30. Green Bay Packers β€“ Jordan Love, QB, Utah State: Aaron Rodgers, 36, is actually older now than Brett Favre was when the Pack drafted Rodgers in 2005. Food for thought ... especially given what a tantalizing prospect Love is, though perhaps one who could use multiple redshirt years.

YOLO balls.

The writer that compares him to Kap is lazy AF. I watched both kids in college extensively. Light-skinned black man and a pair of gonads is where the comparison ends.

Love is way more accurate than Kap ever was in college, doesn't say "fuck it" pull it and run as quickly as Kap did in college, and has a more complete NFL tool kit IMO. He was also plagued from having a revolving door of OC and HC in his career.

In 2019 his INT jumped from 6 to 17...largely IMO because he goes from having a solid, veteran OC in David Yost to a slapdick like Mike Sanford.

His "decision making" was a strength in 2017 and 2018.

30 is a fair slot for Love, maybe a little high IMO, but I really don't see Gute taking a QB unless one plummets like Rodgers did. If Herbert, Tua, or Burrow somehow fall all the way to 30 then I think he would jump on that (provided medicals were clear), but no way he pulls the trigger any other QB. If Love is there at 62, that's a different discussion.

not time to pick a qb this early.  unless the pedigree is like when ar slipped...i still think its dl or ot...unless one of the blue cip wr's slip, otherwise...no lb, as much as i want one of the names here.  i think murray is a real beaut, but i just don't think the f.o. values the ilb spot unless that simmons were to be available bc the draft machine broke.

ESPN had Love at 6 with the Chargers. He did great at the combine.

If we're looking at WRs at 30, I want this kid. Maybe he's had good media coaching, but I want a Slot/Wide versatile WR and he seems to understand what that means. 6'1", 200 lbs., 4.43, 37.5". Seems like he has really natural instincts for timing his release, adjusting to the coverage, and adjusting to the ball. I don't want athletes, I want instincts. Hope he makes it to 30.

Matt Ryan threw 19 his senior year, just sayin. I’m not too worried about the INTs overall, but I do question his decision making and instincts. His deep ball accuracy is a big concern, but overall I don’t see one huge thing with his game that really sells me. Herbert has a cannon arm, Burrow is great at everything, Tua has instincts and is a winner, I see Love do a lot of things well but nothing great. I agree with Lance Z’s pro comp which is Blake Bortles, I think AJ McCarron is another legit comparison. Knowing McCarron’s ceiling and the work Bortles needed, how can you justify a premium pick on him? JMO though.

Just my opinion, but I don't think he goes that high and I don't think he deserves to even go in R1. I think he's good, but he's in tier 2 of QBs like Fromm and Eason, and isn't a R1 caliber guy. Only takes 1 team though.

So he will be drafted by the Lions, Bears or Vikings in Round 1.

That I would love (pun intended) to see.  Three teams take the same guy then have to out bid each other to sign him.  Sounding more and more like the division is being given to the Packers (in the off season) - again.

My latest mock. I did two, got halfway through the first, and realized it was turning to crap, so I started over, realizing the good receivers are all gone by round 3. So, I went with Mims, knowing we get a playmaker right off the bat. Things got better from there. I may have over-done the linebacker position, but we get two rangy guys to roam the middle.

Also, this assumes no free agent additions, which are sure to happen.

After Sullivan in the 6th, I was just grabbing guys to fill.
