Dan Grimm, 1941-2018
Another member of the 1965 championship team who was selected by Atlanta in the expansion draft , Grimm played guard for three seasons for the Packers. Apparently he died last Thursday, but I didn't see any notice until today. :(

Edmunds and James right there for the taking and trades back for a 5 and a pick next year? That's just weird. If he got #91 it would have been cool, but #147? Now trades back up with more resources this year?

Weird. Last week, Dennis Clairidge who appeared on his playing card for the Falcons in a Packer uniform passed away. This week Dan Grimm....same story. Anybody got a picture of Favre in his Falcon uniform on a Packer card?

It was weird, and real grades are a long way off, just initial feelings: I absolutely loved the Burks and Madison picks. There hasn't been an ILB in Green Bay with Burks' speed/potential in coverage since Barnett. Madison comes from a fast-paced passing offense so I'm sure he'll need work on his three-point stance, but he's also the only real O-lineman they drafted. The corners are concerning. Jackson is not known for his man skills but how do you pass on that value even if you have to run...

My thoughts on the draft: Trades : Gute killed it here. Don't think I've ever seen as good a trio of trades in the draft in years. They dropped back 4 picks in the first and likely picked a guy they might have drafted anyways. And all they needed to get back to 18 was a third round pick, which they got back into the third using the extra 4th and 5th rounders they had. They already had 9 picks in rounds 1-5 so using a 4th and 5th to trade into the third round made a ton of sense. Looking at...

We've got a new defensive skipper. Based on reputation, I can safely say that Mike Pettine has exhaustively reviewed tape of every single player on the roster that lines up on D. He knows what he needs to put his system in place. What did Blake Martinez say a few weeks ago about when he met with Pettine early in the offseason? He preached "No missed assignments. No mental errors." Accountability. We'd all like the sexy top 15 defensive edge rusher. You can never have too many impact pass...

Fedya's "Movies to Tivo" Thread, Week of May 7-13, 2018
Welcome to another edition of Fedya's “Movies to Tivo” Thread, for the week of May 7-13, 2018. First, I need to apologize for the fact that TCM pulled We Go to Monte Carlo from the schedule at the last minute I should have realized something was up when they had a 90-something minute movie scheduled in a 75-minute slot. Anyhow, we finally get to our Star of the Month this week. We've also got some more movie series, and Mothers' Day on Sunday which means yet another showing of Mildred Pierce...

Fedya's "Movies to Tivo" Thread, Week of May 14-20, 2018
Monday night on TCM brings a bunch of movies based on fairy tales. I don't know that The Wacky World of Mother Goose , at 4:30 AM Tuesday, is a TCM premiere, but I don't recall ever seeing it on the schedule before. It's an animated version of the Mother Goose stories, with the voice of Margaret Rutherford as Mother Goose and animation done by Rankin/Bass, the same people who brought us Christmas specials like Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer . Earlier in the evening, at 3:00 AM Tuesday,...

Green Bay has a chance to get one of Edmunds, Minka or James.

You wait... One of the defensive studs will fall to us and Gute will go in another direction.

Yeah, still one more pick outside of the three defensive players before it's a lock.

If one of those defensive guys we want is taken by GB at #14, maybe GB trades up for another a pick or two later.

I guess we can still hope a team trades up for Jackson if Edmunds and James go next. :/

Well hey, they go commercial for the WAS pick, maybe the Pack gets a pass this year!

Re: 2018 NFL DRAFT Viewing Thread
Hopefully Tampa takes James, WAS takes Vea, leaving us with good options. Edmunds would be a strong pick, offers a lot of flexibility athletically.

Normally, I'd say trade Hundley for a day three pick, but with 12 picks already, not going to happen. Damn you Hundley
