Gotta remember these dudes have to go through their own grieving process too. And that's ok.

Bakh appears to be in a better mood today:

The part from ARs "Shawshank" quote that says "it was a sin to lock them up" does apply to football - in a way.  People say that (or some comment that means that) all the time when they hear about the money these guys make.  But to the player it is a good thing.  In shawshanks world getting "locked up" is not a good thing for the "participants" therein.  Does AR know that?

Reason 1022466565 you'd never want player opinions ever coming into roster moves. And Aaron Rodgers did it with success in bringing back James Jones the 1st time around. Didn't like that back then. Still don't like it.

The same reason you really don't want your HC in personnel decisions either. See Mike Sherman. Too many of his player re-signings came out of emotional attachment to the player.

I thought Aaron was just saying that he’s going to miss his friend.......but get your point as well.

No one is expendable, especially if they play long enough. CM3 and Cobb could go on to have great seasons in their respective new places...doesn't mean they'd have a similar season had they stayed in GB. Production is dependent on a lot of factors...who is around you is a big one.

I always refer back to the season Alvin Harper signed a big money deal with Tampa out of Dallas. Everyone assumed he was going to tear the league up and he was hot garbage...why? Because he didn't have #88 drawing double and triple coverage on him, #84 at TE pulling the LB, and #22 pulling the S up to protect the run. He also had Dilfer throwing to him instead of #8.

Gutentight seems to be figuring out who is worth spending money on and who isn't. Had Mo Wilkerson not gotten hurt, that may have been one of the top acquisitions all season. And had McVince not been so fukking McCho, maybe Lewis and Graham would have been utilized more effectively.

Good for those guys getting more money to help them into retirement. Let someone else give them the extra money and then sign them back in 2-3 years so they can officially retire as Packers.

Cobb will go to Dallas and have 1-2 games where this board will be on fire because he goes for something like 6 catches, 110 yards, and 2 TDs. He'll be in the concussion protocol for 1-2 games, have other injuries that will cost him 1-2 games, and played banged up for the rest. He'll end up with something like 50 catches for 600 yards and 5 TDs.

CM3 will make a few plays and probably put up stats like he did this year. He'll sit out 3-4 games with a hamstring problem but he's a valuable guy for them in a playoff game.

These guys are both fine in their new settings if they are they to provide depth and not be counted on to be key guys for 16 games. If they came back to Green Bay, they'd probably be slotted as starters and they are not that level of player any more.

I dunno, in my eyes it wasn't so much how Graham was used or not used, he just doesn't look like the athlete he once was.

The more I think about it, the more I think Gute is going to take a TE in Rd. 1, and that he's only keeping Graham and Lewis around to hold down the fort until the new guy is ready.  They obviously aren't the future and how basic can it get: Give Aaron Rodgers a stud TE and the whole offense opens up.

He is Gute.

If GuteGoesTE in RD 1 it's because he believes the guy he takes is a blue chip receiver that can impact games from the TE position.  And maybe give MLF a blocker he can trust in the run game.  That can be the only reason you take a TE in RD1, not just because we need new blood at the position.  For that, you can wait until day 2 or 3.

Well yeah.  I'm not saying draft out of order.  There's at least 2 TE's looking like first rounders here.

I agree that player opinions shouldn’t come into roster moves, but didn’t James Jones lead the team in yards and TDs the year the Packers brought him back?

GB has a few offensive guys that can play.  Allison is back and we know he's on the verge of big things... but Kumerow and Tonyan (TE) can get it done.  All they need is an opportunity.

While I liked the Mo Wilkerson signing in theory and I’d entertain bringing him back, I saw absolutely nothing prior to him getting hurt that made me think he was on the road to being a “top acquisition of the season.”

paraphrasing of course

Not my point but carry on.

Matthews is in a far better position now than he was last season. The Packers didn't have enough depth and he played far too many snaps. This season he'll likely be a situational guy and be much healthier.

Then what is your point?  There are 2 potential blue chippers at TE in round one.  I'm not suggesting he reach for a TE if he has another player at a different position rated higher, just for new blood at the position.

From what I've read, there's a very good chance Hockenson will be there at 12, and that guy looks to be an impact player to me.  Same with Fant at 30.  Depending how it plays out, I wouldn't scoff at either of those guys at those 2 spots.

But yeah, round one should be for blue chippers regardless of position.  Your point (I think), and also mine.  Just making that clear.  Hockenson in particular looks like he could be a very successful TE in this league.

Man the draft can't start quick enough.   It's fun daydreaming new toys, but the suspense is killing me, and we're sitting here ping-ponging over some pretty small points.  You want blue chippers in round one and so do I.

Go back & watch Geronimo in game 1 vs. the Bears....especially that post route to the corner of the EZ for a TD.

He beat Kyle Fuller on that play.

Other than Davante, no other Packer WR the rest of the season that was even near that level of play.

Exactly.  Of course the guy has lost a step but a super star OLB losing a step still makes him better than 3/4 of the OLBs in the league.  Playing as a situational pass rusher who isn't expected to play every frickin' down because there is ZERO depth is a boon for the Rams.  People grousing about Matthews "stealing money" is absurd.  Put any OLB in that position and see how they fare.  If Clay gives the Rams 8 sacks next year that's huge.  For all those clamouring for Connor Barwin type signings, Matthews is exactly that right now.  Would've been nice to see what he could've done with the new OLB infusion.

The radio broadcast call with Wayne Larrivee and Larry McCarren is much better to watch than the TV one with Troy and Jack Buck, too! "HE'S GOT RANDALL COBB!"

Had the same thoughts.  He'd be in the same situation in GB now that he's got 2 OLB starting ahead of him.  But as GetGuteOrGetGone has demonstrated all offseason, this train ain't got a reverse.

I said "may," not "was,"

He was trending up, and allowing Daniels to get single blocking...that was going to pay dividends through the season.

Unfortunately, Kuntrell Brice ended any hope of us seeing that. Adios fukkbag! Enjoy Tampax Bay and Kap'n Kangol!

Thanks Tavis

Gave me a good case of the goose bumps.  Two other observations from this clip:

1) Kuhn throws the block and is the first guy down the field to congratulate Cobb.

2) The look on Cutler's face on the sideline.

Agree but not at $8 million per year. Happy for Clay getting paid but Pack can't afford $8 million for a situational pass-rusher. It sucks but this is the business side.

Yup and when Goff gets his new deal the Rams won't be able to afford an 8 million situational pass rusher either.

All I know is that Allison better step up this year. Adams is going to be double teamed and jammed every snap, and Rodgers's two best friends whom he basically trusted the most with the ball and who always just knew where to be are now gone.

Pre-2017 Jordy? Yes. Correct. Current Jordy can't run anymore.

Cobb can't stay healthy.

So even if those 2 are still on this team, chemistry doesn't matter much when you can't get open, run after the catch, or can't be on the field.

I think the MVS and EQ Brown got invaluable playing time in 2018. You simply can't mimic that. They showed a lot for rookies and I fully expect they will be that much more comfortable coming into this season and also more confident. Allison will be fine.

Adams got jammed and double teamed last season and managed to have an All Pro year. His numbers were ridiculous considering he was surrounded by rookie WR's. Those jams or doubles won't stop him.

We will see what the draft brings, but even as it stands now, I like the WR corps the Packers have in 2019

I hope Rodgers new best friend is LaFleur and his shiny new offense. Will be exciting to see receivers actually schemed open and have Rodgers throw the ball on time. The current  receivers are plenty talented and will look even better with experience and a more creative offense.

Rodgers has to be excited to to have the Mcomplacent stagnant offense leave town.

What I was thinking as well. This, plus look where he went. Had it been another team offering him more cash who knows, may Clay would have taken a discount to stay in GB. I’ll reiterate that Clay leaving stings like a bitch, and the more I think about it he was really the face of the franchise over the past decade minus AR. It was a unique opportunity and I don’t blame either party. Change blows ass. Especially is this case.

Here is the breakdown of Randall Cobb’s one-year deal with the Cowboys: Signing bonus: $2 million. Base salary: $2 million. 46-man roster bonuses: $1 million. Cap number: $4.562 million. 55 receptions, plus playoffs: $250,000. 75 receptions, plus playoffs: $500,000. Max value: $5.5 million.

1 - Lets get back to taking what the D gives us.  Not targeting your trusted guys no matter what.

2- The trusted guys were not getting separation.   I'm hopeful the youngsters will provide better targets.
