It sure would be tempting to get Brown for a 6th round pick.  BUT Brown has said publicly that wherever he lands he is going to want a new contract even though I think he has 2-3 years left on his deal.  The talent to me is so intriguing but damn I just don't know if his diva antics are worth it.

I kind of feel the same way about OBJ.  The guy has been hurt a lot recently and with him you have the same diva antics to worry about.

What the hell is with WR's and being such divas?

I don't see Packers going ILB in the first. Or second or third.  I mean they already have a very good ILB in Blake Martinez.  And how often do they have 2 ILBs on the field at once anyways (excluding when they play a safety as an ILB in nickel/dime)?  They also drafted Burks in the third last year, so hard to believe they give up on him already.  And it's not like Jake Ryan is dead - players come back from torn ACLs all the time.

Jake Ryan is a free agent.

Take Devin White of LSU at 12 and the Jaylon Ferguson from La Tech at 30. Supposedly the La Tech kid has a ton of potential and White would finally give the Packers some speed in the middle. If anything else they could open a Cajun Restaurant in Green Bay and make a fortune.

Oh hell no. White isn't as good as Smith, Edmunds or Vander Esch were last year and Ferguson is a terrible candidate to try and have stand up. He makes Nick Perry look nimble.

To no ones surprise, these mocks are all over the place where guys like Polite, Ferrell, etc will be.

And after the Combine, they will be re-arranging the chairs again.

In the Thompson era, I wouldn't normally even bring this up. But with Gute, if he signs a Landon Collins or an OBJ or a Matthieu, then the Packers priorities in the draft change dramatically. But I still can't help but think a pass rusher is still being picked at #12.

Gardner-Johnson is the perfect modern NFL safety except for one thing: all-around consistency as a player. If you looked at his 2017 tape, you’d have seen a train wreck as a run defender and tackler, but a promising playmaker in coverage. This year, he was a little inconsistent in coverage as a slot corner, but remarkably improved in his physicality and tackling.

The reality is that there will probably always be some level of variance to Gardner-Johnson as a player, but I don’t think his lows are that low if the tackling is cleaned up as it was this year, and his highs are pretty dang high. When you consider all that he can bring to a defense with his combination of size, athleticism, range, ball skills and versatility, CGJ is a slight gamble that I would feel just fine taking in Round 2. He can help a defense right away, whether as a true free safety or in a nickel corner capacity, and still has the upside to become a more consistent playmaker as his career continues.

I think White and Edmunds are on par in terms of long term potential. White has a higher ceiling than LVE.

And if you watch the 2017 tape of Josh Allen you see a guy who was a bit thin and had trouble setting the edge.

Gardner-Johnson reminds me a lot of Nick Collins.

I fully expect Gute to be in play for many of the top free agents available especially the one's you mentioned. He may or may not land a big named guy but at least he we know he will be pushing to make things happen.  I am too lazy to look up who is a free agent but I would add a pash rusher to the list of players he will go after.

If I had to make a pre free agency pick for what they do at #12 I think it will be an OL or edge rusher.

He’s a twat of a human being because he got into an argument with his coach and never showed any character issues before or after that incident? It shouldn’t be glossed over and should be researched by teams, but a minor argument with a coach over a coat is not a character defining incident.

No, he's a twat of a human being for a whole litany of reasons not restricted to him being a public asshat to his HC. He has a history of being a me-first guy. He also has a history of taking plays off.

Of course it’s an issue that needs to be researched, but you’re talking about one incident in a 3 year career. If he had beaten the shit out of a woman like Jeffrey Simmons then I would agree he should be off the board, but we’re talking about a single sideline argument being a disqualifier for a guy with Aaron Donald-like talent.

Chongo can you cite anything that shows that history? I’m not arguing, I’m genuinely curious. Does being a douche disqualify from being drafted?

Oliver is not a position of need. He is possibly the best player on the board at 12 but I don’t see how Gute goes that route after GB tells Randall and Montgomery to get lost. Message from the front office has to have consistency.

GB can’t take that chance at 12 with a potential head case. What he did was completely out of bounds. If his teammates don’t hold him back does he actually beat the shit out of his HC on the field?

There will be a great player at 12. My opinion is it shouldn’t be Oliver.

So yeah, our draft board could look very different by then.

Why would it look different if you always take Best Player Available?   If you mean BPA by position of need then yes. But a true BPA, then no.

No one goes true BPA, unless the best player in the draft is there when you are picking 24th.

With last years trade-down, I'm convinced Gutekunst made the move knowing this years depth of defensive talent would leave a number of options to shore up the roster. If he can find a trade partner I'm thinking he'll do it again and try to parlay #12 into as many picks as he can get in the first 3 rounds. I've haven't see too many mocks with trades, but here's one from Luke Easterly (Draftwire) showing the Packers trading all the way down to 23 after a couple of of moves and getting Brian Burns and Noah Fant at #30. Of course it'll take the right partner but I wouldn't be shocked to see some version of this.

4 Round Mock with Trades

#23 - Brian Burns

#30 - Noah Fant, TE (Iowa)

#44  - Devin Bush, LB (Mich)

#55 - Amani Hooker, S (Iowa)

#75 - Beau Benzshawel, OL (WI)

#76 - Isaiah Buggs, DL (Alab)

#111- Justic Hill, RB (OK St)

I sent you a PM with some stuff I don't want to post here. I'll leave it at that.

With regards to stuff I'm comfortable sharing publicly, after he got into his pissing match with Minor Applewhite, he quit on his team. He didn't play one snap after that, and that was because he was looking out for himself and his draft.

Prior to that, according to a couple Houston Cougar fans I know, they have told me over the years he takes plays off...he loafs, isn't always motivated and gets by on his natural ability.

There were also some questions about his character which is the reason he ended up at Houston instead of an SEC or ACC school.

Packers have whiffed on too many 1st round picks in the last decade. To me, it's not worth picking a guy with so many question marks.
