Because he's a bit small and not Roquon Smith.

Here is an interesting scenario, just take who appears to be the most impactful guy on the board:

12: EDGE MONTEZ SWEAT
30: EDGE JACHAI POLITE
44: NASIR ADDERLEY
75: WR DEEBO SAMUEL
114: DL KHALEN SAUNDERS
118: EDGE JALEN JELKS
151: TE JOSH OLIVER
187: WR PENNY HART
195: OT CHUMA EDOGA
228: VENZELL BOULWARE

Staying put and just taking any sliders, how (un)happy would you be with something like this?

IMO: There's some really good here, like completely rebuilding the OLB depth and adding a LOT of pass rushing talent (including Saunders from the inside), as well as adding some dynamic receiving talent.

Admittedly, I think that's ridiculously late for Edoga to go but no O-line help until late as well as only one DB is a concern. This probably would mean having to sign a starting safety and maybe an O-lineman in free agency.

serious question, why is Devin White slipping down in these dumb mock drafts?

I don’t think he’s actually slipping, I think other players are becoming trendy as risers though. He’s a raw athlete with instincts, but he’s unpolished compared to guys like R. Smith and Keuchly coming out. He’s going to have a strong combine and pro day IMO. At worst he’s going to be Deion Jones, at best he’s Bobby Wagner.

With the assumption that Pettine doesn't need blue chip OLB's and that pressure will be focused up the middle, and our DL is already shaping up to succeed there, is Devin White a good pick at 13?  Or do you try to sign Mosely if he's not tagged?

well this is what I am thinking anyways.

Fine if you switch out the pick at #75 with OL.  I don't think we need another rookie WR.

If you want to shore up WR (and personally I don't think we need to), but if you did, that would be the position to look at free agency, IMO.  (Golden Tate is available. Anyone?)

Also need to draft a running back every year, IMO.  Running backs last about 6 months in today's NFL (okay a year).

The algorithm was jumping the board for O-linemen in this one so none of the draft slots were lining up with value. that said, I think Samuel is going to be very good. He's a bigger, faster Cobb and can line up in the slot or outside, like a stronger Greg Jennings.

Would you prefer something like:

1a. CODY FORD OKLAHOMA
1b. EDGE JACHAI POLITE FLORIDA

2. S NASIR ADDERLEY DELAWARE
3. MICHAEL DEITER WISCONSIN
4a. DL KHALEN SAUNDERS WESTERN ILLINOIS
4b. EDGE JALEN JELKS OREGON
5. OT CHUMA EDOGA USC
6a. WR PENNY HART GEORGIA STATE (or RB TONY POLLARD MEMPHIS)
6b. WILL HARRIS BOSTON COLLEGE
6c. EDGE JUSTIN HOLLINS OREGON

Ford penciled in at RG, Deiter competes immediately with Taylor at LG and Edoga takes on Spriggs for swing and likely heir to Bulaga. The loser of Deiter/Taylor is your interior swing man.

Polite, Jelks, Hollins, Fackrell, Gilbert, (re-signed) Matthews, Donnerson, Martinez, Burks are the linebackers with Morrison or a Free Agent mixed in. This throws some numbers and talent at the rush spots.

Would still likely need two free agent DBs, one a starter, as it's very thin back there whether Jackson plays corner or "safety" in base. Cleaning house on the whole safety position wouldn't be bad either, but it's a deep pass rusher year so take advantage of that and protect the franchise.

Helmet head's latest Mock has Murray going 13 to the Phins. Ya, it'd be nice if a top 11 team swung in and took him.

Murray is 5"9 7/8ths in socks. Read that no team has ever drafted a QB that short in the 1st round since the '60's.

Sure would be nice to get 2 starters with those first two picks,  like HERSCHEL has above a pass rusher at 12, and then that big Tackle fro;m Oklahoma at 30, to shovel some mud into  Khalil Mack face for 60 minutes.

Kyler Murray is playing football

Hopefully someone in the top 11 wants him.

Murray is going to be an interesting player in the draft.  I am dying to know what his true measurables are.  I remember Herbstreit in the playoff broadcast saying that they list him at 5 foot 10 and he said that was being very generous.

There were reports yesterday that the Giants don't want him because he is too short and they are focusing on Haskins.   I think Haskins fits more in to what the Giants like to do so I don't see him going there.

I think maybe Denver may be in play for a QB but will they after spending big for Keenum last year?

The Jags maybe? they spent money on Bortles but he hasn't exactly played like they paid him.  I think this is where Murray lands if he is drafted in the first round.

I looked at the rest of the teams in the first round and maybe the Raiders might be a landing spot but I guess that depends on how Gruden feels about Carr.

Me personnally (and its just me talking) I wouldn't draft him.  the dude is tiny and no matter how mobile you are NFL defenses will catch up to you.  And he also comes from a conference where to be kind they consider defense to be optional.

The QB situation will be interesting, I'd love to see Haskins, Murray and Jones all go high.

I'm now wondering where Jeffrey Simmons goes after tearing his ACL in workouts. I would have thought he's go top 10 prior to the injury but now he could fall quite a ways.

Yep the QB situation will be very interesting.  I would think the Giants are a no brainer to take one and I would think thats Haskins.  After that?  I have this feeling that Lock and Jones are the next guys before Murray.  I for one am very curious what the QB's will look like at the combine and how that affects their status.

I'm hoping he's there on the board, and some other team trades up for him. Judging by most mocks, I'm not all that thrilled with the #12 spot. Trading down a bit, the team can still get some decent players, and add another top-100 pick.

I think Devin White drops to 12 but I dont see Gute drafting him if he is there. Last year Tremaine Edwards was available who was rated as high or higher than White is and Gute passed on him. Maybe he does not put that position at a premium but it would be nice to have a Linebacker than can run sideline to sideline as well as cover the running backs out on route. Unfortunately, Oren Burks did not look like he could handle the position so the need is still there.

I've seen several mocks with CIN taking White in RD01.  I'll be really curious to see what direction Galafenakis goes with both RD01 picks.  If it were TT, we'd know he won't pick a TE or ILB that high.  But I don't know how much of that same thinking carried over.

I said it in another thread but I think there is one team to watch and that is the Redskins.  The Skins are sitting there at #15 and the Dolphins at #13.  I wonder if Skins may be so desperate for their QB (whoever that is) that they would move up to #12 to jump over the Dolphins to get their guy?

I don't think we saw enough of him to come to that conclusion.   Even when they were mathematically out, they still didn't play him.

That was frustrating as it could have been valuable experience.

Mel Kipers top 25 big board-interesting that Cody Ford is not on that list but has Kyler Murray in the top 10. He has Devin White in the top five. Hope Gute pounces on him if he drops.
