With Bakh being out for a while, don't see how we can move on from Wagner

Now that Wagner is gone I think GB will obviously look to the draft for a young T. Hell, we know Jenkins can play there too if that’s the direction they want to go. I have to believe there’s going to be quite a few options in FA too with all the cap cuts coming up. Players will either have to sign a FA deal that is lesser than they think they’re worth or not play at all. My guess is they’ll choose to play.

Bringing Wagner back at a cheaper rate may be on the table. Would love to see us get a young OT, but the reality is, very hard to plug and play with a rookie in the top 10, much less at pick #29. Bakh likely won't be ready until mid-season...if that wasn't an issue, I could see rolling the dice with Turner at RT and a promising rookie.

I read an article but I can't find it now, but it said the cap may be even higher than the $85 million floor. Once the new TV deals are finished and they know the status of Covid they may borrow from the 2022 & 2023 cap to boost 2021.

Mark Tauscher would like to speak with you.

If I remember, he was kind of a headcase.

Same thing can be said of WR Koren Robinson.  Favre worked with him to get him the ball, in the games he played in, with GB, but he was a two strike guy in a three strikes and you're out, system. Another guy I wish we could have kept, at WR, although he was another head case, but could catch the ball, was Andre Rison.

As good as Schneider is, and he is, he still cannot find a dominant OL to put in front of Wilson:

And this doesn't help..

Only so much cap room. Can’t see us taking Watt unless it is at a discount...and I dont think that will happen.

Packers need to make signing 33 a priority...closest thing you have on the roster to his skillset us Ervin, and that is a drop off. Not only do you lose a pass catching option, you lose your most consistent threat to house it every play.

Are you saying AJ Dillon isn't a threat? He is Eddie Lacy, without the buffet table. It appears Gute drafted Dillon with the idea that he would replace either Jones or Williams, who were  both entering FA. Jones already had turned down the Packers' offer, and IMO, I think Gute wanted to get a bargain, in this upcoming draft, at RB. I think both Jones and Williams are gone. Gute won't put the franchise tag on Jones, as doing so, will cost him about $8 million. You can buy a lot of rookie RB talent, for that kind of money. This cap situation, the Packers are in, really sucks! BTW, don't look for JJ Watt in Green and Gold, either. I'd love to see Watt lined up with Kenny Clark, on the D Line, but that is not happening.

$15.5M is more than GB could probably swing. Guess he isn't chasing a championship because AZ is staring down another season of fighting for 3rd place (barring a RussExit from SEA). I'm glad he's chasing the money instead of winning though, nothing is guaranteed in this business and all players need to cash out while they still can.

I was honestly hoping he would find a happy medium and get good money from a team like CLE who will actually win games and have some success. Kingsbury isn't a winner, I don't think it will be an enjoyable two years for JJ.

Not surprised at all. The attention whore got a few weeks of all eyeballs on him then does the predictable thing and makes a cash grab. Glad the team can stop wasting time on him now. So first it was Leonhard and then Watt. Is James White gonna play the front office to get more money somewhere else next?

I am actually relieved by this decision.  The Packers could not afford to pay him 15-16 million without having to trade off in other areas.

I will say this though- I couldn’t think of a more difficult path to win a SB than what he did.  Assuming Russ stays in Seattle that’s a tough road to win the division much less the conference.

It's always easy for people like us to criticize athletes for "selling out" and taking the money. But it's still probably an extra 8-10 million dollars extra than what he's getting from other places.

Most of us would take an extra 10 million to go to a team that has a long-shot chance of winning a Super Bowl (it's not like he's going to the Lions or Jets) than a team like the Bucs, Bills, Packers, or Chiefs with a 10-20% chance.

I will admit that I really wanted them to sign him but you are right the price would be too steep with the cap and the fact they would have had to make some cuts to make it happen.  As much as I want defensive help on the team I just don't think it made sense.

ARI could be looking at 4th place in the West.

SEA with Wilson; LAR with Stafford and that D; SFO with Garapolo, their rush O, and a healthy D. ARI has Murray, Hopkins, & Fitz, but they also have Kingsbury.

Winning isn't everything, but money will buy you a lot of happiness.
